The deep, dark jungles of the Congo basin house many secrets–including one that has become either a fascinating legend or a ridiculous hoax, depending on who you speak to.
For decades now, the Mokele Mbembe has been thought to be a dinosaur, a monitor lizard, or perhaps just a hippo. Today, we’ll uncover the truth.

  1. Jesus loves you and died on the cross to save you from your sins and rose again three days later put your faith in him as Lord and Savior and turn your life to him

John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life

  2. Giant madtsoia snakes and terrestrial crocodiles existed from the time of the dinosaurs until coexisting with modern humans in Australia during the Pleistocene, thus disproving the fallacy that no animal over 25 kilos survived the meteorite impact, it is possible that some dinosaurs also lived

  3. These two are definitely my favorite explanations and speculative evolution versions of Mokele Mbembe I've seen so far!…. and the ending is rather depressing.. especially considering that the pangolin's population is already piss poor in number.. Hopefully, there's some population tucked away, the same can be said about many of earth's megafauna.

  4. Previous creatures: Terrifying results of plagues and pathogens and hints of an ancient cult of eugenicists making monsters.

The last three entries: the most terrifying thing is the threat humanity proves them.

  5. unironically in Indonesian Jungles these soft shell giant turtle is real and it is called Bulus Raksasa. you can find it in Sumatra, Borneo, and Papua. although the recorded biggest shell carapaces size only found around 2 meters but there are reports deep in the sumatra jungle river, in central borneo river delta and also near the region Lorentz national park in papua indonesia that the size can reach 3 to 4 meters.

  6. Truly a fascinating and unique way to depict the cryptid without just defaulting to “it’s a dinosaur.” Your creativity truly knows no bounds. Would honestly love to see your take on the legend of the Michigan dogman. I grew up in Michigan and used to hear both the song on the radio and stories about it from my relatives whilst growing up.

  7. This is such a crazy coincidence, Decoding the Unknown just did a video about this creature three days ago.
I love both – he's all about debunking the real-life myth, and you look at it from the speculative biology side. Made my week.

  8. I love your videos, but the sponsor placements are very immersion breaking. When setting my mind in the time period of a mid-20th century researcher, ads about video games or VPNs are very anachronistic, and I wish the segments could be placed at the beginning or end of the videos. Excellent content otherwise!

  9. This was fun.

There are quite a few creatures from world mythology that are bit more obscure. Like the Aralez from Armenian mythology, a winged celestial canine with healing/resurrection abilities, which could probably make for an interesting video at some point in the future. Another, which would probably be a bit more doable, is the Ramiderju from Spanish lore, an extra long weasel-like creature with a boar-like snout and green fur said to have the ability to detect and seek out Gold and Treasures, with stories saying its fur can act as a sort of magical cure-all; however, it is said only appear every hundred years or so, which means an entire century goes by between each sighting.

  10. It is always possible it does exist ! I have seen things I can't explain. I am a retired law enforcement officer and Drug Court Investigator and have testified for the prosecution in hundreds of cases and my word is considered expert so I think if I say I have seen something I have actually seen it. I have seen Bigfoot multiple times in North Louisiana on my very large timber property and twice a giant bird that meets the description of a Thunderbird. I have also encountered ghosts on multiple occasions many times while on duty as law enforcement with multiple witnesses. There are definitely unknown things out there.

  11. Mokele mbembe is just a elephant miss taken as a sauropod in my theory the trunk were mistaken as long neck like some describe having tusk due to the absent of hippo they would probably been dominating the river
