  2. Scott your pitcher with the mums is called a milk pitcher. Really popular at the turn of the century until about WWI when fridges started coming out. Many times they would’ve had a biscuit jar to match

  3. Black glass is always sophisticated and elegant. It displays beautifully in a grouping, with accents of bittersweet, curly willow, or dried flower arrangements. It can be interspersed with almost any colour for a change of mood in an elevated style.

I have a large collection of black glass, including a complete set of octagonal dinnerware and wine glasses and water tumblers. I had a tablecloth and napkins made in black and eggplant damask, with an eggplant table runner edged in black, and discretely embellished with black Swarovski crystals.

I have a black console bowl with silver overlay, and a pair of candlesticks. I set the table with all of it for our Samhain (Halloween) feast, and it is pure class. I have a black water pitcher, and a black wine decanter with sterling overlay.

I almost have a full set of champagne flutes and long stemmed liqueur glasses (wanting only two of each to complete. I even have a black cake/desert pedestal piece, and 4 small 3 “ diameter mint dishes on 3 feet one for every two diners to share.

I lucked into a three foot swung vase in black with a wide mouth for the sideboard, which is stunning with silver painted curly willow embellished with silver sparkles. I also have several serving dishes and platters.

Tiffin did a lovely collection of frosted black vases in the poppy design, and I had 3 in different heights…but a squirrel got in the house and broke the low one (looking for its replacement, and a trio of stemmed stretch glass flared compotes of different heights, each with a different stem pattern , they are grouped at the other end of the sideboard to balance the swung vase.

I am still searching for pieces to add to this gorgeous table setting that always elicits exclamations of pleasure from my guests. It is a labour of love…and one day I will find the perfect set of black handled flat wear and black knife rests.

I always watch you,,,and hope one day you will offer up a piece that I simply must have for this set.🖤🇨🇦
