  1. While I didn't like the death of Joel, I fully agree with how it played out. If someone killed a close relative of mine, my revenge would be nice and slow. His reason for it wouldn't even register until I calmed down and I wouldn't be calm while he's breathing.

  2. to owen, it seems like the fireflies represented hope as well as the awfulness that is inherent to the LoU worked (whereas the WLF is the same horrible acts but no goal like a cure behind it). that's my interpretation as why he wants to go back. he's looking for the light, so to speak

  3. you also nailed the big-lady bossfight! many people struggle with that and die a lot. An understanding of the dodge mechanics (that you have down) is very useful for the game. I'd advise to read through abby's skill tree to see how the game sorta 'wants' or expects you to play. tho you are doing well already.

The cutscene in the woods is dope as hell IMO. Looking forward to abby day 2!

  4. It is very simple like you said.

People defend Joel because they care about him and condemn the Fireflies because they don’t know them. At best we have two scenes and one audio recording of Marlene. Similar to what you said, if we spent 25 hours on a harrowing, emotional journey with her and not Joel, he would be viewed almost universally as a degenerate psychopath who needs to be dealt with for the good of the world. It is just plain and simple bias.

Having a negative reaction to Joel’s death initially is perfectly understandable. It would be kind of weird if you didn’t react negatively. But if you still feel the same way by the end of the story as you did at the beginning, I would also find that really bizarre.

It’s fascinating watching people have these vastly different reactions. Hope you enjoy the rest of the game!

  5. great thoughts. don't let the comments get to ya. 99% of players feel as you did esp at that point in the story and it's pretty cringe to try and gatekeep TLOU takes from someone in the middle of their experience. Sky should ABSOLUTELY share those thoughts as they're happening, that's the point of a playthrough/reaction lmao, and excited to see where she lands on it once it is over!

  6. imho, owen definitely wants to fight for the firefly cause, yes. he feels lost without the purpose he felt behind their mission. what matters to him is trying to make a better world and he definitely doesn't feel like he is doing that with the WLF

  7. On the one hand, I too got annoyed that Abby didn't have a knife in a purely narrative sense. On the other hand, I do appreciate that Abby and Ellie has different loadouts and skillsets in a purely gameplay mechanics perspective so it all doesn't become too much alike.

  8. I personally enjoy your take on Owen in that sex scene! I've seen so many people play this game but man, I find the Abby/Owen dynamic to be one of the more underdiscussed aspects of the story.

  9. Even though fireflies did terrible things there was a justifiable cause to it whereas with the wlf owen doesnt agree with that cause which causes him to become disillusioned when he sees himself/ the group fall further into that mentality.

Personally, i love this scene cause it says so much whilist also exploring the complicated relationship of abby and owen a mirror to dina & ellie. But people love to take it out of context. Like many things in this game.

  10. 2:09:55 Yeah, you're right, it wasn't loving. I think the scene showcases how loveless it was due to all they'd both been through up until that point and what drove them apart (mainly Abby's obsession). A lot of pent-up frustration at that point, tho you can tell Owen never really stopped loving her.

You can see Owen was not too keen on the whole revenge mission, he never was. You could see that in the first flashback when they were together as well. Her obsession with revenge is what drove them apart 'cause Owen just wanted to move on from it whereas Abby dedicated all those years to becoming an unstoppable force so she could hunt Joel down and avenge her father.

It was also a painful reminder of all that happened to the Fireflies, and you can see that he's still a Firefly at heart and longs for that community and some sort of hope again, but of course he'd never say no to Abby, he knew how much it meant to her, so he helped her see it through.

But now that that's been done, that desire for wanting to join the Fireflies and fighting for a good cause (something hopeful) of some sort resurfaces for him, that's why he wants to join 'em, esp after all that went down with the WLFs and all the Scars he had to kill over the years

  11. i think owen wanted to rejoin the fireflies because their literal purpose is restoring civilization. he’s tired of fighting over land which is the conflict of the scars and the wlf. if you’re gonna fight for someone, you’d probably wanna fight for someone who was trying to help the world recover what it’s lost, which is what the fireflies were trying to do at the first game. it’s just up to your interpretation if saving the many is worth sacrificing the one. also always try to keep in mind Marlene and the fireflies know nothing about what joel and ellie went through, or what bond they created meant to joel. it’s hard to understand things out of your perspective. i find it easier to understand peoples decisions that they make when i realize i am not them, the characters make their choice based on their situation. i feel like that’s what makes things difficult for people when they see joel’s fate. you spent so much time with him but we forget that things aren’t so black and white. it’s easier to stomach things when we remember that we aren’t joel, ellie or abby. we are a spectator always.

  12. ok listen Joel did wrong and also fire flies did wrong they are both assholes both have done bad things but joels wrong=save one person which doesn't want to be saved as we know but fireflies wrong=save humanity.
Thats why I think Joel is the bigger monster.

  13. ahhhh… 95% of the players of this game felt the same way. as you did. even the one’s who ended up loving the story. you will find dozens of yt videos of people trying to kill abby over and over, considering quiting right there, and being extremely uncomfortable with playing as abby and trying to see things from her perspective. no one i ever heard of picked up the controller after taking on abby’s story and said “i’m loving this”!

the internet feeds our worse selves sometimes. it can be hard to ignore the negativity sometimes. i’m glad you don’t let the internet silliness make you want to stop playing or take the fun out of your content.

  14. "Trying to stay open minded" 😄 Sure. "Games is not complicated" – true that, then why do you think people in the comments are explaining stuff to you. Because it's evident most of the time you don't get what's happening but you insist you do 😄 Oh well.

  15. You’re doing a great job! Don’t worry about what other people think! Neil Druckman is probably smiling about this because this is what he wants. He wants people to debate on this. The game draws so much emotion in so many different forms, and that’s what it’s designed to do! You’re feelings are totally justified in how you feel about Abby, and I totally see where you’re coming from. Honestly, your opinion changed mine a bit because I can totally see where you’re coming from! Anyway, I love your videos so much! I love last of us so much, and I’ve played the game so many times that I simply enjoy watching other people experience it! I’ve watched you play all of part I and I’m enjoying watching you play part II as well! Looking forward to you finishing the game!

  16. Great points and very strongly opinionated. Great for sticking to your views and not being persuaded into changing your outlook. To me, I think that's why I love this series so much because it does make you think, rethink, and still wonder about your experience. I agree with your views on the cure. I don't think everything would just change back because of the cure. I'm sure a select few would get it at the beginning, I think some would be willing to try without testing, I think people would be skeptical without it being tested, I think there would be people who would want it destroyed, and I think there would be people that would not go back to being normal and remain primitive. You gotta understand (not you, Skyytea😄in general), it's been 20+ years since the infection. If a cure happens, how do you normalize? How do you rebuild a government? How do you enforce laws? What are the laws? Who will be the leader? How do you start an agricultural trade? And so on and so fourth. And this has to be done worldwide. Will everybody be on the same page? I don't think it would be as simple as it sounds. Sorry, I geeked out 🤓. Anyways, great channel. Keep it up 🫡

  17. I definitely see your points. My only issue with your point is saying Joel’s death is worse than the actions he committed against the fire flys. I agree with Joel’s decision to save Ellie but at the end of the day he murdered an entire hospital full of people to stop them from doing what they think is the cure to humanity. He’s just one man. Abby took out all her anger on him, yes. However, she made it a point to only hurt Joel. She didn’t kill Ellie or Tommy when she could’ve.

  18. Only in the show is Jackson sorta hush hush. In the game, by the second one, they actively take in people who are traveling by and in need, or actively invite others to come and restock and stay for the night. Likely the former fireflies that arrived in Washington, knew someone or traveled thru Wyoming and met up with some people from Jackson or stayed there over night. And who runs that place? Maria and that means people regularly see and hear about Tommy also.

  19. People are so sensitive when it comes to The Last Of Us and that is too silly and childish to my blood. TLOU part I and II are both master pieces to me and even tho I desagree with manny of Skytea's comments, I like to hear perspectives that are different from mine. It's not about of being right or wrong people, is about acknoledge that each individual have his own mindset and u can always learn somenthing from them.

  20. Around this point in the game my girlfriend got me a cocktail shaker for my birthday. It wasn't my thing but for a while a developed a taste for negronis and used to have one once a week, every sunday, while I play the game. It was like MY moment. As a consecuence my brain inmediatly associate this part of the game with the bittersweet taste of poorly made, watered down negroni.

  21. 20:15 Hey Sky you're probably thinking of Henry and Sam the brothers from the first game haha. The brothers who joined the seraphites in the aquarium was Max and Ricky, lovelots 💞

  22. The Fireflies' main goal in the first game Skyytea… was trying to stop the Pandemic. Owen probably just wants to join a community like that again… to fight for something he believes in.

  23. I don't know if you'll ever read this, but my interpretation of why Abby was extra brutal and tortured Joel rather than killing him was bc of the specific comment he made right after she asked him to guess who they were- "Say whatever speech you've got rehearsed and get this over with". If you were angry for 4 years thinking abt the 'monster' who killed your friends and family, you finally got the chance to confront them about what they did and they show absolutely no remorse or acknowledgment, it might push you over the edge. I definitely think if Joel hadn't replied in that way, Abby wouldn't have tortured him (or at least to that extent) bc she wanted him to feel the pain he caused instead of just dying quickly.

  24. Girl tries way too hard to sound "deep" with their thoughts. Just pure up cringe when you don't even believe the things you say yourself. 🤣

"Being open-minded" when we already know where your thoughts are going to be by the end of the game, yeah nothing open minded about that lol.

Just trying to sound deep for the sake of it when you've done nothing to prove you believe your own words. 😉

  25. Hi Sky really enjoying your thoughts. I personally felt exactly how you did the first time playing. I was thinking about it for weeks after. Personally came away with understanding that there is a bigger picture to what this game is trying to portray and question about our own judgments and how we justify them, rather than a story about two protagonists. Don't underestimate what people in society will do for revenge, especially for their loved ones. I think this game is a masterpiece and I'm yet to find another game or series that made me feel, question, dissect like this one. Don't read any comments and enjoy the ride because it is special and remembered as one of the greatest games of all time
