  1. Besides trade war raising prices of food and goods US wont have workers to pick food locally, build homes and pay taxes. Right will blow up economy for decades, we are heading into depression as the world will try to re-align without US interference ,at that point you can also forget any climate action

  2. All of Trump MAGA crap is made elsewhere than the USA. He will raise the prices on his crap, and MAGATS will snap it up w/o complaint. But, but, have you seen the price of milk and eggs?

  3. Sam, stop flogging a dead horse. Get the Rock on board to run for dems in 2028. Reps have been hanging on every word of the orange spoofer for a decade. Besides, the Rock is a genuinely intelligent, self made man. The epitome of the American dream.

  4. Donald Trump's uncle must be the most famous professor in the history of MIT.
I wonder what his name was.
I'm going to Google the list of MIT's most famous professors. I figure, the one name I don't recognize will be Donald Trump's Uncle.

  5. Wow, I just turned on NPR and heard Joe Biden Something about Hasbulla better not violate international law. The audacity to bring up international law is mind blowing. He must truly be losing it. He needs to resign and let Kamala take over.

  6. Ummm only if the federal government manufactures it themselves as a generic… it only takes $4.50 to produce 1 Ozempic pen. So at most it would be about $20-50 if you include material and labour to produce 1 pen… not reason these injections are $800-$1200 a pen… the government shouldn’t be lining these companies pockets

  7. Trump has repeatedly stated that the tariffs are to incentivize US corporations to bring manufacturing back home. Which BTW we now manufacture almost nada..NOTHING. And for whatever reason, this has not been included in the left’s narrative on this issue . Instead we hear Trump doesn’t know what a Tariff is.
For years I thought that free trade, the catalyst of globalization, was an awful policy written by Neoliberals out of the Reagan era that decimated middle Americas working class .
It turns out that everyone including the left has now been indoctrinated into cheap goods from abroad despite the damage done to workers and the environment, domestic and international.
While Trump is a disaster, he uunderstands middle American and when he starts talking NAFTA and loss of manufacturing, he is talking their language. If progressives want to regain ground, we need to acknowledge that Trumps tariffs are addresses a very real problem the NO ONE else talks about. And not just dismiss this as he’s an idiot that doesn’t understand a tariff.

  8. GITMO & Abu Ghraib both tortured people innocent of anything beyond being arbitrarily selected by reward seekers. $42 million awarded to two abu Ghraib prisoners a few days ago. Look into CACI. CACI & TITAN. I know CACI. Congress passed legislation making DOD contractors criminally culpable for war crimes and UCMJ offenses to the same extent as US armed forces. But the law is evaded by the contracts being signed not with Dept of Defense, but with Dept. of the Interior.

  9. Richard Bech’s interview reminded me of how gen z boys saw the 2016 election and I’m not shocked these same boys in 2024 voted the way they did. We had mock elections at my school, and Trump won. The boys were fascinated with the TV man who said funny, bigoted, and repeatable quotes.

Separate point, but Some gen z never knew Trump as a non-politician either… disillusioned young people is right Sam. Obama seemed to be a last hurrah for Dems to recover after moving more center after Clinton.

  10. Man, I was 13 on 9/11 but also a noncitizen immigrant kid. That 2002-2010 period, i.e. the high school and college years were spent in paranoid self-censored, self-imposed social isolation.

  11. I grew up about an hour and a half outside NYC and I was also 14 on 9/11. I remember the story about the mosque. Despite being so nearby and having connections to the city, my parents believed that the mosque was to be built on the ground zero site or directly next to it. I remember this. It’s bizarre and really illustrates the FOX news effect, that we could be fooled that way, not from across the country but a train ride away.

Social media can have its issues, but it is so important when it comes to things like this. Yes, there are incomprehensible people choosing to stick their heads in the sand and still be tricked like this (and often much more egregiously where it’s just stunning) but people who want to understand the truth can now. My mother now does her own research, and since she cares about identifying the truth, she does. The Boomers who are sucked in by that shit in this day and age, well they may be stupider to a degree for sure, but I think mostly they are people who don’t care and want to feel a certain way.

  12. I’ve tried researching since the 9/11 files were released or at least some of them. I was specifically looking for pictures of the airplane that supposedly hit the Pentagon, I can find anything online or in government archives. The only pictures available are pictures of the pentagon with the damage to the building. Then I tried to find pictures of the steel beams that were at sub level of twin towers, because reports and people said it was like lava melting , and The impact of an aircraft would be devastating but can’t generate enough heat to melt the steel beams as described. Also why was the Mossad on this scene and where did they drive the trucks by of the debris from the “ terrorist attack” & why was the 9/11 evidence file CNN not investigated by CIA? These two bits of information came from a reputable Former CIA interview. We are the terrorist in America we are the Bully, the meddlers and oppressors of news and government non transparency

  13. Five bananas cost the same as a Big Mac, possibly six.

Healthier foods are cheaper generally, because they require less processing. Even the processed foods require preparation, which is why that Big Mac is preferred. You can’t cook a meal in the time it takes to order and receive a Big Mac.

It isn’t about being able to work eight hours on a banana. It’s about taking a half hour to prepare a meal after working two eight hour shifts versus five minutes in a drive-thru. It’s still a problem RFK can’t see because he has never worked 16 hours in a day in his entire life. He’s never had to grab a microwave burrito from a gas station to scarf down while he drives from one job to the next.

  14. I was almost 30 on 9/11. I lived in Europe when terrorism was fairly common in the mid ‘80s. I saw the lockdown of Navy bases after the Beirut bombing. I have an entirely different opinion on terrorism because of it.

There is a psychology behind terrorism that most people can’t fathom. Somebody doesn’t wake up one day and just decide to put on a bomb vest. It takes a whole lot to push people to that extreme. That’s something that can be derailed. Nobody commits an act of terrorism for profit. The people who do it are doing it because they can’t survive as things are. You can negotiate and give just a little to prevent terrorism.

I attended a US DoDDSD school living in Europe as a military dependent. I can remember Marines stationed at my school after Beirut, because it wasn’t on a base. That taught me that you can only defend against terrorism, not attack it militarily. They taught us in that same school how to disappear into the civilian population as well. I can vanish into a crowd in nearly a quarter of the world because of my experiences. I can reduce my attractiveness as a hostage for terrorists by appearing to be something other than American.

The other side of the coin is that I can see the weaknesses of defense. I can organize resistance or fulfill a role in an organized defense. I can also fulfill a role in an organized offense. That’s why veterans are a terrorism threat according to the NSA, but veterans don’t have the same training in going native that I learned as a dependent. The DoDDSD and the Navy taught me all the skills to be a terrorist threat.

Israel could have avoided their problems in Gaza entirely. They could have invested heavily in building a shipping port there and lifting the living conditions there to the point where terrorism became unpalatable. They could have used the irrigation projects in the Negev to raise the living conditions in that part of their territory above subsistence level for Palestinians too. It worked in Acco, so it would work in Gaza and the West Bank as well.

Israel asked for October 7th, which is a controversial statement. Years of mistreatment and forced poverty made it an inevitable outcome. They created their own problem in their treatment of the people they wanted out of “their” territories. Israel could have avoided it entirely, rather than grooming and shaping it.

MAGA is set to do what Israel has done to the Palestinians. They plan to turn their opposition into radicals. Fox News has been grooming and shaping it for years. Average Republicans will follow along because it isn’t them being oppressed.

I don’t see a healthy prognosis for our future. I haven’t since the DHS was founded in the wake of 9/11. I think we are headed towards a second American revolution or the foundation of an American Empire. I can only say this behind the anonymity of a false internet identity that I can easily abandon. My oath to the Constitution was for life, not just my time in uniform and I am seeing domestic enemies of the Constitution taking refuge in the halls of government. God help us all if I or people like me are moved to act, because unlike the MAGA “patriots”, we are capable of fighting the government on both small and large scales.

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of months. My hope is that someone in the combined Congress on the 6th of January remembers that they took an oath to defend the Constitution and raises a 14th Amendment objection to Trump taking office. I’m not holding my breath that they will.

  15. 50:50 I think another interesting viewpoint to intertwine here besides the MCU/special forces is also the militarization of video games. Call of Duty became an annual release/purchase (particularly the Modern Warfare/Black Ops) like Madden/FIFA, more games had plots with some sort of terrorist undertones, more video games used for simulations/tactical training, the US Army/Navy using Xbox controllers in submarines, and the military getting involved in esports as means to recruit people… just to name a few!
