  1. She tells herself she was hopelessly addicted to alcohol because it removes some of her responsibility, it wasn’t me, it was the disease blah blah blah. Sadly she is still the painfully thoughtless person she was when this occurred because like good old dad reminds her that the reason this happened TO HER is because bad things happen to good people. Absolutely tragic.

  2. She wasn’t sorry until sentencing day to try to lessen her sentence. If they let her go now she would leave this court and celebrate and get back behind the wheel eventually all over again

  3. People make mistakes; we all have made mistakes, some worse mistakes than others. A life was taken, yes, but I believe she is remorseful, I have seem more remorse from her than others that have taken a life of a person.

  4. Her words sound hollow. I understand that she’s nervous, but she read some thing, but I don’t hear the feeling in it. The victims mother made a good point. AA is not treatment. It is a fellowship. The fact that she does not receive clinical treatments suggests that she has not come to terms with her addiction. Again, no one really knows if she has been diagnosed with addiction. If she is likely not had a clinical alcohol and drug evaluation. She strikes me as someone who is entitled, routinely drive under the influence, and likely, as she was growing up with enabled by her parents. This was 100% preventable. She made a conscious choice to drive under the influence.
