The National Hurricane Center has highlighted a new area to watch in the tropics. The area near the Azores has a 10% chance to develop tropical characteristics as it moves around the Azores over the next seven days.
There is also a chance the storm becomes subtropical which means it is a hybrid storm that contains both tropical and non-tropical characteristics. Regardless, this storm will generate wind and heavy rain for the Azores. Large waves and rough surf will be generated near Portugal and parts of Europe.
The rest of the Atlantic Basin is quiet with limited thunderstorm activity. Light-to-moderate amounts of Saharan dust is moving towards the Lesser Antilles and eastern Caribbean.
