Trident Missile Misfiring "Embarrassing For The Royal Navy" Says Jerome Starkey

The Sun’s defence editor Jerome Starkey, says despite a trident missile misfiring and crashing into the ocean, the UK government still has confidence in the country’s defence.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman told reporters that the UK Government had “complete confidence” in Britain’s nuclear deterrent despite reports of a Trident missile test failure on January 30.

He repeated the Ministry of Defence’s explanation that there had been an “anomaly” but said, for national security reasons, he was unable to expand on what that meant. Asked how the Government could offer such assurances given the last test in 2016 also resulted in a misfire, Rishi Sunak’s spokesman said: “There really isn’t much more I can add on the technical issues.

Jerome says “It is an embarrassment for the Royal Navy.”

  1. Is this female journalist for real? "The last thing you need…." This is a disaster in an political environment where Russia is sabre rattling! Enough snark, report this with the concern and gravitas it deserves! Hold the government to account as their primary responsibility is to keep us safe!

  3. The result of years of Tory underfunding the military. We have the smallest army since the battle of Waterloo and our navy reduced.

But this story of a lack of investment in our public sector by the Tories is universal. Police, fire service, NHS, education, justice system, social services, councils etc. All defunded or privatised by stealth where profits go to CEO bonuses and wealthy shareholders.

  4. A lot more than 17 million per use. But this will be used to get more money for the services. Really obvious what they are trying to do. show a failure and put up spending with support of the country. Its really quite sad actually.

  6. Lets face it, the £billions spent on liars and cheats pouring into the UK in rubber boats means no viable defense of the realm possible. Even Argentina getting emboldened to invade the Falklands again. Cameron going there reinforces that view. No money for NHS hospitals or funding for dentists or homes for our own homeless because of these illegal criminals. If I am called up to fight I will seek asylum in Rwanda as its a much safer country than our knife and drugs riddled country where women and equalities is turning us into Barbi idiots.
