I think The Key Is Related To The Ancient City And It Will Future have A use To Unlock The Chests in the ancient city. that would explain for the copper bricks inside the chamber kinda look like ancient city bricks but a lighter color

The trial key unlocks a block called the trial vault. It contains a random item (like having an item in a cage). Only with that key, can you open the "vault" up and the item rotating inside of it, will pop out.
