Trial for Tyre Nichols' death enters opening statements; 3 Memphis officers charged



The Memphis police officers charged in connection to Tyre Nichols’ death are in court for opening statements. Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley and Justin Smith pleaded not guilty to charges related to Nichols’ death in January 2023. CBS News’ Elise Preston reports.

  1. This is why you should NEVER vote for a conviction on the testimony of a police officer. Social media has exposed them throughout this country on how corrupt, dishonest and incompetent they are!!!!

  2. They all should be charged with a hate crime. I do not think they would have done this to a white male just driving. Regardless of the officers being black, the VICTIM was black and was attacked and devalued because of his race… Maybe the prosecution left the hate crime out because they would have difficulty persuading a jury and they already know they have enough for a conviction without a hate crime charge.
