Additional comments on loving yourself:
The most important commandment: (3 versions)
Matthew 22:36-40
Mark 12:28-31
Luke 10:25-28
The requirement listed above is to love God with all my heart, all my soul and all my strength and all my mind. And then the 2nd and also equal requirement is to love others and this is hinged on a prerequisite of :
…as I love myself.
And as I genuinely love myself, it would be obvious that it doesn’t have evil in it. God is love and love is pure. So self love would be loving myself in a God honoring way.
And from this, I can then love God with all of me.
And I can love my neighbors.
Some might hear this as selfish act. That would simply be a filter that they applied to this from their human perception of what loving oneself would imply.
It seems impossible for me to fulfill this commandment without first having love, appreciation and value for myself.
Let’s be clear!!
Selfish self love is NOT what I am talking about like it states in 2 Timothy 3:1-5
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”
I misspoke about prayer being blocked by Unforgivness. I meant to say unforgiveness can hinders our prayers. (Mark 11:25)
