  1. Hi, Taco! The measuring stick pole isn’t for heating oil. It’s a very old piece of equipment registered land surveyors used to measure elevation. I have two sets (of three pcs each) in my garage that belonged to my late husband who was a professional land surveyor. He kept them around to use when measuring a variety of points in a baseball diamond to identify how level they were. An old style transit which could only move horizontally would be used to line up on the rod and you would read the elevation on it. Love your channel!

  2. The old frames are made out of solid wood – oak, walnut, cherry, maple. The modern frames are plastic, maybe on cheap pine.
Take a look at hardwood framing lumber, if you want something nice you'll be paying $100, $125, or $150 for an 8-foot piece – enough to make one medium sized frame.
The frame lady knows what she's doing.

  3. Maybe the frame lady is an artist and prefers the old frames, framing is crazy expensive. Also,an art teacher can inspire students by framing their work. With a good mat cutter old frames can add a lot to a piece of art.. thanks again for an outing.

  4. The Electrolux is a pretty respectable upright vacuum. The bags are not available at your local Target or Walmart but any Mom & Pop owned vacuum shop should carry them. Just about every other small town or suburb will have them.
