Train drivers pressuring New South Wales government for more pay

Sydney rail services will run for 24 hours this weekend as train drivers pressure the state government for more pay.

Negotiations with the Rail, Tram and Bus Union are ongoing, but it’s hoped the extra services will delay a potential network shutdown.

The move will cost taxpayers an extra $1.5 million.

  1. Teachers, police, now train drivers. What about the nurses? They deserve way more than what they get at the moment. But the government has forgotten about them. They were praised for their efforts throughout Covid, but now forgotten 😢

  2. I get that the cost of living is very high but this is not the answer. The solution is to bring down the cost by reducing the costs that contribute to the economy like energy, services and fuel to make things more efficient. This is not going to help, in fact it’s just going to temporarily mask the problem and then we’ll be back to the same problem with these same people demanding more pay increases.

  3. I've worked union jobs and I work non-union jobs and one union strike strangling the company or government or whoever is kind of the point. It's to make it known that without all of these workers that you do not feel deserve adequate pay or adequate time off or actually the ones that make the company work
