  1. The slaked lime added to betel nut serves to convert alkaloids into their freebase form, which is water soluble and much more rapidly absorbed through mucous membranes. It is NOT there to cut up the user's mouth, though chemical burns are certainly a possibility. Interesting that schizophrenics appear to benefit from betel nut use – the same has been observed when it comes to smoking tobacco.

  2. Wait, poppy seeds and opium literally come from the same plant? How is it legal to cultivate them? I just assumed there was a less "spicy" variety of poppy you could grow for seeds, like hemp and marijuana.

  3. It’s funny cause herion isn’t even Ben that deadly. Fentanyl is wayyyyyyyyyy more deadly. To the point where it’s literally safer to get actual pure heroin. It’s been used for thousands of years

  4. You had me right up until 'Cultural Appropriation'…

You can still have the most nightmarish, terrfying trips on mushrooms. They're not to be messed with. And medical studies use 'microdoses' not handfuls
