Totally Top Gun | STARFIELD #25

First play through of STARFIELD.
Difficulty : Hard/Very Hard

I kept having to drop difficulty to Hard to win the space combat encounters and then raising it back up afterwards. By the end of the video, I just left it at hard and didn’t raise it back to very hard until somewhere in the middle of episode 27.

  2. I'm guessing you haven't found the "Captain's Locker" on your bridge yet? If you look at the various panels near the entrance, sometimes next to, sometimes opposite of, the cargo hold access panel, there's a locker called the "Captain't Locker." It isn't huge, but it can be a good place to toss things you don't need right away that are taking up room or weight in your inventory such as unused weapons you want to sell later and such, until you get to where you want to sell them. Oh, one more note: I found in both Starfield and No Man's Sky that if you hit the brakes as the enemy comes around for a strike, you can sort of automatically put them in front of you, then speed up again… It's made combat much easier for me in both games.

  3. Love the "squirrel moment" of Malcomb going to Piazzi to check on Andreja because she's been gone a while with no communications, gets to orbit of where she may be, hears a distress call and immediately goes to help them instead
It's a good thing quests aren't timed in this game 😂
I don't envy you playing this quest on very hard or even hard, it kicked my ass on normal and i was using an ecliptic ship

  4. I'm sure Gopher has figured this out by now but for anyone else watching: Maneuverability in space goes down as speed goes up. Having the throttle set at about half gives you the best turning speed/radius. Also, as other people have mentioned, upgrading ship parts is crucial. Best place to do so is in one of your settlements with a landing pad since it will give you access to all of the different manufacturers where the different ship dealers only show you their stock, like how Ford dealers generally only carry Ford vehicles.

  5. at 29 min in, Gopher stands up, turns to see Barrett calmly pushing a few buttons . . . "Yep, gonna die again" — I'm sorry, it was obviously terrifically frustrating for you, but I laughed til I cried (because its happened to me so many times in other games). And remember everyone, I'm assuming this was made before the game went live, so Gopher did not have access to 2,834,962
videos telling him how to fly a ship.

  6. i just dip my mouse dpi 2 steps lower and i'm fine with it. But i don't do very hard.

Having my Joystick in the way just for flying in Starfield would feel excessive. It's hardly DCS or IL2.

  7. Really need to take piloting so you can use your thrusters and actually turn on a dime, but you're going too fast to be able to turn, lower your speed and you'll have an easier time chasing down enemies

  8. Honestly the space combat is very underwhelming.
The flight controls are very bare bones, with next to nothing in the way of worthwhile maneuvers you can pull off.
Add on the fact the AI has literal hitscan aimbot, and has the ability to just pivot in place to shoot at you and there just really is no point in trying to maneuver at all.
Just dump all your points into weapons and shields and hope your able to tank enough damage to take some of them out.

The areas with asteroids are a lot better to fight in because you can actually use them as cover, but those areas are few and far between.

Get into a fight with 4 or more ships on very hard and it doesn't matter how good your ship is, your not going to be able to last long enough to come out on top.
Only way i've seen people be able to win those is by literally cheating and either using console commands to make themselves invulnerable, or they are using mods to allow them to go past the vanilla games ship performance caps.

  9. You know it is weird that the developers choose to ship the vertical on the station but on the ship it is docked horizontal. Yup I know this weird but when you were laying dead on the spaceship was funny. 🙂 This seems to be a very frustrating game to play. It seems to be a button mashers delight and not for the PC.

  10. Oh I have not seen this mission before. Nice! It took me a long time to be comfortable with space battle. I upgraded to PB autocannons from the UAC questline and now blow things into the aether.

  11. You see, Alban ripped off the others to make some extra credits, but they live in the middle of nowhere, so he couldn't even go spend them credits. They're stashed, in a box, under the backside of his front porch. You can take em, and it's not even stealing. 👌🤣

  12. Something I don't quite grasp in the game is settlers in small groups and small habs on planets with either no atmosphere or no oxygen. That kind of a setup doesn't seem at all practical for long term, why couldn't they stick them on moons or planets that are more reasonable. I agree with Malcomb though, much prefer running around on the ground then weaving about in those ships!

  13. OMG, when he kept getting up from the pilot seat in the middle of the fight, I almost peed myself. I imagine he kept pressing B on the Xbox controller, assuming it meant Boost. 😂

  14. This questline was a bit tough for me when it came to the space combat as well. I think it has to do with the fact that the enemy ships are already shooting the second they drop out of hyper space and their range is huge. There's also the fact you have to fight three or four of them all at once too.

  15. Couple thoughts… first off, someone needs to make a space combat only mode where you can just make ships and fly them to test out designs, configurations and tactics, and second, if there isn't one in the game, there needs to be a quick toggle button so you can switch between a couple allocation options with a button push- basically a fast way to instantly switch from 'flying through space and happy' mode and 'oh, I'm being attacked by forswor… er, spacers' mode.

You getting up out of your seat during combat was maybe the hardest I've laughed at someone's misfortune in my life.

  18. I started this mission very early on and just gave up after I jumped to the first planet and 3 spacers were there! Figured I'd finish it when I'm more proficient at space battles and my ship is better equipped.

  19. I'm playing on normal and I got the best shield I can get at my level. And I die everytime. Everytime I randomly run into ships to fight, there always 3 or 4 of them and they don't seem to have any problem steering THEIR ships.
With that mushy/laggy or whatever you want to call it, it's just awful. I play a lot of space combat games and I've never played one that was so frustrating, difficult and just not fun.
It really needs to be fixed or changed. I'm all for letting a game be what it is but not being fun is just wrong. I don't know who thought this was a good model for space combat but they were so wrong.

  20. Aaah, why are you flicking the ship around like that?
I don't know if you explained it in your 'why I suck' video, but jeez! That was kinda hard to watch, I was getting motion problems from it.
Swinging your mouse around like that doesn't help, you need to center the circle to stop moving. If you want to bleed off speed, lower your speed with S!
Maybe you're trying to treat it like normal looking around, turning your character instead of a vehicle? I don't know if I just have ship-brain or something, but it feels fine to me, and easy to adapt between walking and piloting.

  21. Has Gopher figured out that he can pick somewhere to land from the star map instead of trying to look at the planet from space and pinpointing somewhere ?
and that he can hide his spacesuit in settlements/oxygen rich area's ? and not keep taking it all off

  22. Getting up out of Pilot Seat during combat is the most frustrating thing. Wish it could be disabled during combat manually or automatically. We can rebind getting up out of seat OUT of combat but not during. Very odd.
