Top Ten Forgotten Darkstalkers Characters

Darkstalkers is one of my favorite fighting games and I think it’s time we finally cover it for a full list. But instead of talking about the heavy hitters of the series, like Morrigan, Felicia, and Demitri, I want to look at the lesser seen members of the series. The characters that appear alongside the main, selectable fighters have some cool hidden lore that we tend to overlook. I’ll be covering some of the most significant side characters in the series, whether they’re in characters animations, backstory, or just a hidden fighter.

  1. Nice list. I liked hearing all the lore the characters have. If they came out with a new Darkstalkers game, I think a Headless Horseman would be a good character. Being on a horse would automatically make him stand out and play differently than the other fighters

  2. 29:55 "None lethal soul energy" Are you sure it is none lethal? I always assumed she killed people when she feed on their souls.
In her ending, she feeds on Pyron and that kills him. Why wouldn't it kill anyone else?

  3. It would've been more fitting for Harry to be a descendant of Van Helsing rather than Merlin. And if a Darkstalkers 4 ever happens I would like there to be a Van Helsing inspired character.

  4. I would love to see a future Darkstalkers game with an older Anita as the protagonist, Dee as the antagonist and Belial as a playable giant boss, which is something the Darkstalkers series has never had unlike a lot of Capcom's other fighting games, preferably with a manageable size like Onslaught and Abyss' first forms.

  5. Nice list! Though I will add that there is another hint of Pyron's siblings also from a non canon source, Teramon from the Darkstalkers cartoon, I think he was Pyron's older brother in that, I'll have to look into it again.

  7. You know, with a good rewrite Harry could be an interesting fighter for the next Darkstalkers since there's little magic focused characters and turning him into a fortune teller or hunter with a more noble alignment would stand out.

  8. The first place really reminds me to the Medichis on the story of Skullgirls, that family is involved almost in every single story of all girls and makes conflicts with everyone. Thank you Mr top your videos are always chill and amazing ❤️

  9. 27:16 Huh…giving Pyron a family is also what the last episode of The U.S. Darkstalkers cartoon did. His hyper competent brother (he's got a name, I can't remember it off the top of my head) shows up and starts upstaging him. I think there's also mentions of like a mom existing as well. Did Capcom Fighting Jamolution really reference an obscure cartoon that had been cancelled for years by then or is there just something in some Lore Bible about Pyron being A Family Man? I guess we'll never know.

  10. I always liked how Shadown just leaves the "host" he possessed body to go onto the fallen fighter he just defeated. I also used to think that the host turning grey after Shadown leaves implies that he stole their soul before possesing another corpse.

  11. Marionette/Shadow will always be my favorites for all the bits of extra flavor related to them. Their creepy entrances and arcade endings, the fact that you never get an in-game explanation for them, the fact that they visibly fatality the opponent at the end…all perfect.
