I was hoping someone would mention that TOPGUN is in NAS Fallon, NV and not NAS North Island. I get why the movie set the story in San Diego, though. San Diego is more attractive for filming than the Fallon high desert.

Hope China could take Taiwan back peacefully
Taiwan is a Province (State) of China, just like Hawaii is a State of the US. Americans should look at a map of the world so that they can understand just what is happening. The majority of Taiwanese do not want independence, it is all about the money that the Western corporations stand to make if China is taken out of the picture. There are those in the US that are prepared to go to war with China to remove them from the world economy that they now the leader of.
This guy just stated something most Americans probably don't know, at any one time a third of the US Navy (that is a bigger fleet than any other countries entire fleet) is "deployed", that means they are on the other side of the world antagonizing and threatening other countries.

China ain't invading Taiwan. Wars are expensive and Xi Jingping knows the cost is too much. The outcome doesn't look good if China tries some slick move. God Bless our armed forces.
Unpredictability and overwhelming force? How is it unpredictable if China is able to see the carrier strike group the moment it leaves port and follow it all the way through with satellites and drones? It might be overwhelming to some small countries, but how is it going to overwhelm China’s land, sea and air based anti-ship ballistic missiles and cruise missiles that travels at supersonic and hypersonic speeds with a combat radius of over 1,500km and can strike any moving sea targets? Realistically, America has never fought a war with a nation with even one tenth of the military capability of today’s PLA.
Just how old is this USS Nimitz already? She looks as if she's still fresh from the shipyards.

It is a little funny how the US Navy are protecting a country that the US dosen't recognize. The Taiwan limbo situation is a weird one.
I know that the states have Top Gun that tell these fighter pilots they are the best in the world. Are they? Really? How would we know if other fighter pilots from around the world are not involved in that type of programming? And if other countries have a similar program what makes us think that their program is not as good as ours? Just my thoughts!
