Best scene in the movie. In the theater it was an experience.
He ended up pushing 10gs, which is insane most seasoned pilots can barely handle 9gs at an absolute maximum and thats for only a couple seconds. His body would have been 10 times heavier, your heart physically cannot pump against the force to supply blood to your brain.
Everything about everything is right. The look of the man’s face at the end and clenched knuckle is perfect. They are all wishing he could do it.
It is a great movie and I can't wait to watch it over and over and over again.

This is a guy running a training simulation while a bunch of people watch from comfy chairs… and it’s one of the most tense and exciting action scenes of the past twenty years. That’s masterful filmmaking and storytelling right there.
Maverick is a beast! He handled that jet like it was a Honda Civic!

An amazing scene in a perfect movie.
I pre-ordered the 4K Blu-Ray out of principle and to support Tom Cruise, the last guy in Hollywood that still seems to care about making good movies, and to send a message to Disney.
I watched this scene dozens of times but it took me a while to process that at 2:52 Maverick is still aiming with the laser while fighting 9.5 G-force! I don’t know if there’s a Maverick irl but he’s a GOD of flight ✈️!

g force doesn't really work this way, it would only appear during acceleration or sharp turns, but not during a steep climb as long as the speed stays the same.
fun fact… thos 9 G only apply at 2:42, when he is at the lowest pulling up, the moment he just climbs G forces are pretty mich near 1… and nowhere near going black out….
g forces in aerial combat are only a thing in tight turns at high speeds…
