  1. Alien Nation was great for its time, but if they do a reboot, they’ll have to do better aliens. Maybe take a few ideas from District 9. Not necessarily “ prawns” but something that doesn’t look like someone in a suit or makeup.
I got fed up with Falling Skies. The idea that the aliens couldn’t finish off a few gorilla soldiers wandering around in broad daylight was ridiculous. The aliens could have easily set up some baby making factories to make slaves and exterminate the ‘rogue elements.’ Yes, it’s the same for most alien/robot invasion/takeover series/movies, but it was just too blatantly stupid. I gave up during season 3 I think.

  2. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Falling Skies even though the finale was a little weak, but least we got a conclusion unlike some of these other forgotten series 🙂 Oh, and cheers to Alien Nation ^^*raises glass of sour milk*^^

  3. From what I can remember Falling Skies was just finishing production of the 4th season when the writers were told they'd be getting 7 seasons, so they wrote season 5 for there to be 7 seasons…and then partway through the production of season 5 they were told to wrap it up because they were getting cut at the end of season 5. This is why Season 5 is the worst season, there was supposed to be lots more, leading to a sensible conclusion that ended up being shoehorned in with a "and we were saved and lived happily ever after" ending.

  4. Jewel Staite was the actress, Jennifer was her character btw, Falling Skies suffered from Heroism, great start but got weaker in the final seasons as it got a little too convoluted, but was great for 3 years and ok for final 2.

  5. Earth Star Voyager is free on YouTube. It is juvenile but still managed to be enjoyable. I think they manage this through a pretty good story, and sets that were much better than I would have anticipated.

  6. Alien Nation is a fine example of how to take a social justice message to the general public without coming off as holier than thou. There's nothing wrong with having a message, but if you want to deliver it you need to wrap it up in a good story and good acting, two things that Alien Nation had.

  7. Never heard of Earth Star Voyager. Makes you think, it's 26 years at sublight travel to their destination, the holds of their ship must have been absolutely crammed with hairspray and hair gel. All the really important stuff for such a voyage. With reference to anything Stargate, definitely not forgotten, still very popular, I just wished they'd continued with a second series of "Universe".
