Royal Caribbean releases its final Oasis-Class ship, the Utopia of the Seas, a sister ship to the the Wonder of the Seas (the current largest cruise ship in the world), the Oasis, Allure, Harmony, and Symphony of the Seas. But the cruise line also moves on to a brand-new ship class that will outsize it. We’re talking about the iconic Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest ship class since the Quantum-Class, Odyssey, Quantum, Anthem, and Ovation of the Seas. Both new cruise ships will sail to Royal Caribbean’s Private Island, Perfect Day at Cococay, Bahamas (they also own Labadee, Haiti) for inexpensive weekend getaway cruises from Miami & Fort Lauderdale Florida! Celebrity Cruises, which added a fourth Edge-Class ship in 2023 (Celebrity Ascent, sister ship of Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Edge, and Celebrity Beyond), will not release any new vessels in 2024.

After Carnival Cruise Line has recently launched its brand-new and very exciting Carnival Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration cruise ships with the first Roller Coasters at Sea, it is finally ready to launch the Carnival Jubilee on Carnival’s 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary (December 2023); it won’t launch any new vessels in 2024.

Richard Branson’s Cruise line, the adults-only Virgin Voyages, is excited to debut the Brilliant Lady in 2024 (or later as it has been delayed recently), a sister ship to the Scarlet Lady, the Valiant Lady, and the Resilient Lady.

Princess Cruises will present its newest flagship class (the Sphere Class with the Sun Princess & in 2025 with the Star Princess) and so will Holland America Line, Cunard Cruises, and Disney! Disney Cruise Line will acquire Dream Cruises’ massive Global Dream, one of the world’s largest cruise ship classes, its first ship acquisition ever; this will probably only happen in 2025. But in 2024, Disney will launch the Disney Treasure (with its Captain Minnie Mouse), which will be Disney’s newest ship since the Disney Wish (also part of the same Wish Class), which was recently inaugurated in 2022!

Another cruise line with an impressive new lineup next year is MSC Cruises. After launching the Seaside Plus Class’s MSC Seashore (sister ship to the MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview) and the MSC Virtuosa, from Meraviglia-Class, in 2021, they will launch a brand new World Class ships (MSC World America, the sister ship of the MSC World Europa which was launched this year!). This will be the world’s tallest cruise ship with 22 decks – and it will offer pretty cheap cruises and affordable cruise vacations!

While Norwegian Cruise Line grew its Prima Class of vessels, which currently includes the spectacular Norwegian Prima, the only cruise ship in the world with a three-story Go Cart race track, with the Norwegian Viva in 2023 for Caribbean Cruises, it won’t release any new ships in 2024. Many of the ships presented in this list will sail from American Ports such as Galveston, Texas, Miami, Orlando, Port Canaveral, and Fort Lauderdale in Florida, or even New York City for cruises to Mexico, the Bahamas (Nassau), Bermuda, and more. Some will also sail in the Mediterranean for cruises to Spain, Italy, Greece, and more!

  2. The cruise industry is going downhill with all this new AI / Virtual reality stuff which will replace it. not to mention the environment stuff. once the meta-verse takes off (which will be VERY soon), going on a cruise will be a simple as stepping into a metaverse pod and enjoying the ocean breeze.

All other opinions are considered high volume CAP.

It is what it is! Get over it!

  7. I just got back from a 12-day Royal Caribbean cruise to the Caribbean on an older ship. During the cruise, I heard a lot of other cruisers talking about the new ships like the Icon, etc. They were saying they have no interest in ever booking a cruise on these new Mega Ships. The wife and I have 10 cruises under our belts and also agree we are never going to book a cruise on one either. Too big, too loud, too many booger pickers, too many party idiots, and a money trap.

  8. Greetings, just a clarification, the Disney ships hulls- they are jot black, it's actually a patented Monica Blue, named after a crew member and her pants when they were designing the first Disney Ship, the Disney Magic, tue imagineers were trying to determine color when Monica was in the meeting and they noticed the color of her pants and went with it..

  9. Looks like Princess is finally updating themselves to stay competitive in the premium category but copying the Aqua Dome concept from Royal and MSC copying the bumper cars and slide. Generally speaking it appears that Royal still leads the way for new ideas/concepts/experiences and then the other companies copy.
