  1. The inferi jump scare in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was good. Anyone who read the books knew it was coming, but the silence, the dark cave atmosphere, and not knowing the exact moment it was going to happen made it even better.

  2. With do respect to the invisible man, I think it’s easier to do jump scares there since he’s invisible. Esp the whole paint or ink over him thing. Been done in other films and cartoons

  3. I remember watching The Cabin in the Woods during a 1st date in a full theater. I was soooo suprised by the title, I suddenly stood up from my seat and spilled a lot of popcorn on my date 😂

  4. What Lies Beneath came out when I was five and my parents were watching the movie when I walked in on that tub scene. For the last 22 years that scene has been stored in the back of my mind never knowing the name of the movie nor the actors and it’s been driving me crazy ever since I saw it. Thank you WatchMojo cause it’s such a relief to know what movie it was

  6. I'd love to argue that, for the 2012 entry, The Hunger Games should have taken the spot, specifically that moment when Peeta looks into that bush and everything goes quiet, before suddenly that mutt leaps out and all hell breaks loose. I watched that in theaters and, yeah, I knew there was something coming, but the intensity of both visual and audio surprised me so much that I literally JUMPED, as in, my heart skipped a beat abd my breath caught in my chest as my body, for a quick second, entered into actual fight or flight response.

  7. Bro for 2002 the scariest jump-scare was definitely from 28 days later where they run and bust through the window and for 2004 it’s creep involving a flashlight

I will not really spoil them because it’s REALLY REALLY worth it SK go watch it
Movies: 28 days later and Creep

  8. That "jump scare sound" or music is called a "musical sting." What a great name for it. That jump scare in "The Descent" was the first time in years, or ever, that caused me, my sister, and my brother-in-law to all jump up from our seats and scream while slopping our drinks everwhere! I've gasped or slightly screamed before possibly, but I don't think I've ever actually "jumped" out of my seat straight up while screaming! All three of us did! Wow, that was a real "JUMP SCARE!"

  9. Wow confirmed why I stopped watching most horror movies with there uninspired (not scary)jump scare and stories that just rehash stuff that been done a million times before with no new twist or creativity. I heard Jordan peele horror films brought some freshness, maybe I sit down and watch of few of those.

  10. The bathroom seance scene in the bathroom in what lies beneath has a great jump scare that then relax you, they build the tension between the silence, the seance and the two women and a flickering candle, they ask If anyone is there, tense silence…broken by the big family dog barging through the door, que sigh of relief and uneasy laughter from those watching 👀 😀
