  1. Honestly, Homerzilla to me is my most hated segment out of all of them.
Bad pacing, pretty crummy retelling, and it seems more interested in insulting the original movie more then any other segment.
And that's not even considering the dumb remake culture arc. If you wanted to make Godzilla 2000 jokes, why did you make it 15 years later?!

Further more if anything, Treehouse of Horror 26's without a doubt the worst they've done all together.

  2. Dead and Shoulders and mmm Homer are a couple of my least favorite segments from this series and I felt that they deserve to be talked about as well when looking at bad toh segments.

  3. I used to love treehouse of horror segments they are funny and clever smart like Shinning and the Raven now its so dull and boring I hate one when Homer eat himself wasn't funny just gross and Lisa with Split parody she just sounded same.

I ain't looking forward to upcoming death note parody. But I agree with that list most of these segments are later simpsons seasons.

  4. Gonna have to disagree on Master & Cadaver, which is the only one on the list I loved. It's one of the few and rare "post golden era" Halloween skits that are genuinely horrifying and suspenseful. The actual dread that Marge and Homer have over killing and innocent man is heart rending.

Also, I love the fake out ending with Maggie, because it perfectly captures how twisted the fantasies and play pretend of children can be. As a kid, I had similar dark play time make believe and even darker dreams.

  5. I could never understand why these amazing episodes became so horrible. It amazes me for several reasons:

    1. They know how beloved they are and, as such, how expected from the audience.

    2. It´s just a single episode per year. Sure, The Simpsons as a whole are extremely stale, but they could (at least) put some effort into these.

    3. Why go beyond horror movies/series/books? It´s not as if they´ve run out of them. They could even go back to previously done episodes and go back since horror franchises have multiple movies already.

    4. If they just can´t think of anything to do then hire outside people to come do these.

    PS

If I´m not mistaken these started to go down the hill with the Mr. and Mrs. Smith parody. I remember when I watched and was stunned by the mere idea of it.

  6. The Clown Without Pity and King Homer segments from Treehouse III can fit into this worst list somewhere – even the wrap-around Halloween Party segment could qualify as a worst ever. As for which two segments I'd replace it with, I'd say How To Get Ahead in Dead-Vertizing and Know When To Golem. I won't try to say that you don't know what you're talking about and those segments are good, but I will say they were definitely better than Desperately Seeking Xena from Treehouse X or that weird Maggie is really Kang's daughter story from Treehouse VIII.

  7. The main issue with Tree House of Horrors is that they are now such direct parodies that there is no room for subversion. The old Tree House of Horrors did parody right—you did not have to know the source material to enjoy it.

  8. I disagree with several of your picks, I for one loved Wiz Kids and enjoyed the golem. But I think you make good points. As a big transformers fan, the parody was far too shallow to be funny. I think what makes a bad THoH segment is when it is based on something too recent and/or sticks too close to the plot of one particular thing without being a Simpsons version of it. Wiz kids works for me because it really is its own thing, not bound up too much in Harry potter, and I think the enchanted shin is funny.

  9. Oh no, I'm one of the rare people who remembers, and even enjoys, the Master & Cadaver segment. I just thought it had decent pacing and spooky atmosphere. Not a great one, but alright. I will also defend Dry Hard, mainly because every Ralph joke is great. The immediate death. The Wiggum family viewing party. The new god. That's enough for me.

  10. You said Godzilla 2000 when you were ACTUALLY referring to Godzilla (1998) a completely different movie, also the segment was based on 2014 too
I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder

  11. Since TRJ forgot to do so, I might as well list his dishonorable mentions here:

    Hex and the City (13)
    B.I. Bartificial Intelligence (17)

    Mr. & Mrs. Simpson (19)

    Unnormal Activity (24)

  12. Commenting as I'm watching so you may address this later, but spot on commentary for 4 beheadings. I was initially upset by the pick for the list, my nostalgia greatly influencing my mood. But your comment on it being more of an anthology feel was so on the nose that it made me agree fully with your criticisms.

Love the videos. Love hearing other people talk about something that means so much to me. Thank you!

  13. When I was in Junior High, I found Master and Cadaver to be an incredibly memorable segment, purely due to the fact that I thought Marge looked unusually hot in that bikini. So take that for what it's worth, I suppose

  14. As a massive Transformers fan, the Transformers segment is kind of an insult and it just does the most basic Transformers jokes you can make. Every Transformers fan have heard every single one of the jokes in this skit. None of them are really specific to the franchise enough for fans of Transformers, and they're not clever enough to appeal to Simpsons fans. So it sucks all around.

  15. As a Transformers fan, it didn't work out. It's even sadder realizing AKOM (the studio behind the Simpsons and the worst episodes of G1 Transformers) still can't get Transformers right after all these years.
