Patty’s name is pronounced Sm-eye-th not Smith. Patty Smith was a punk rock artist who had a big hit with Bruce Springsteen’s, “because the night.”
If they don't have "I Ran" by Flock of Duran, I'm disliking this video.
Nah, none of those tricked me. I knew them all. I'm so old.
I honestly thought you would have had Turn Up the Radio by Autograph on here. They sound so much like Def Leppard.
How on Earth did you leave out Carl Carlton's "She's a Bad Mama Jama," which many mistakenly believe is a Stevie Wonder track?
I completely misunderstood the concept of this list. I thought it was songs that people believe were originally sung by a specific band or artist, when in actuality, was originally sung by a different band or artist.
A good example is for a long time I believed Guns N’ Roses originally saying “sympathy for the devil“ when in actuality it was the Rolling Stones.
Shawn Mendes and Charlie puth both use autotune, cant sing, and both suck so who cares….
Have always hated "I Will Survive" and never like Gloria Gayners voice. Confusing her with Summers? Need ears chacked
My theory on why people confuse these artists other than sounding similar is.. many on the list are relatively unknown artists vs well known well established artist. Example: i cant think of any other songs that Rupert Holmes or Gloria Gaynor sang.
Also, people who are a fan of a particular genre like heavy metal, might not know many easy listening artists
When I was much younger I thought Dream Weaver was by Aerosmith. Seems like I'm the only one if it didn't make this list.
All of this comes from Studio exects who try to get other groups that sound like the current big group. Christian music is so bad at it, they purposely get people who sound like pop singers.
When I was younger I always thought Black Betty was done by Lynyrd Skynyrd it does have a Lynyrd Skynyrd vibe it wasn't until I was an adult when I found out that the name of the band was Ram Jam.
Also Modern English has more of a flock of seagulls sound rather than the Cure
Another: "Rain In The Summertime" is by The Alarm, not by U2.
Shawn Mendes and Charlie Puth's voices sound nothing remotely like each other.
Living in Memphis, I quickly got sick of "Walking in Memphis" but it's a fairly good song. Marc Cohn is definitely not from here either though.
I remember alot of people thought Steely Dans big hit "do it again" was Santana, that should have made this list
True story: a friend of mine swore it was Twisted Sister who sang Cum on feel the noize. She was so sure she was willing to show her breasts if she was wrong. She went and asked the DJ. The rest is history!
….
Are the people that have these mix-ups 10-year-olds that fell from a high slide?
Anyone else noticing how many One Hit Wonders are mistaken for bigger counterparts?
How is Rockwell – Somebody’s Watching Me not on this list?
The napster / limewire / sharebear example for me was the one before ZZ top. Cat in the cradle – Cat stevens.
The turtles happy together also sounds like the beatles.
One that isn't on the list, but I think should be is the Lido Shuffle by Boz Scaggs, because I thought Elton John did it, it does sound like his early 70's stuff. And their voices are similar.
That video of Stealer’s Wheel doesn’t include Gerry Rafferty, but Joe Egan miming to Gerry’s vocals.
I’ve seen YouTube clips of UB40’s version of Red Red Wine being credited to Bob Marley. I think it was click bait.
Could not watch the whole video, had about 15 ads in the first 11 mins 🙄
Most of them I know and those I don't I probably don't care!
There are no "casual" music fans, you are either one of 3 levels (novice, adept, master)or not a fan at all.
The ones who confuses any of these are not fans.
The Time has Come is by The Chambers Brothers not Jimi Hendrix.
It's so Nice to be with You by Gallery not Neil Diamond.
Suspicion by Terry Stafford not Elvis Presley.
when i was young i thought the song "because" by the dave clark five was a beatles song (before i heard their song "because") its so similar to a beatles type song its scary.
It's insane to me don't worry be happy wasn't on here. Even though you showed it in the intro… Did I miss something?
At about 15 of the 20 entries, i was wondering what is wrong with your ears..??..
The other option could also be, that someone played 1 song of the "NOT" artist then played the song, to make YOU think that you are listening to the same artist.
Dunno why, but lately, i got the feeling that the videos are more a person taste/oppinion than what the general audience / person thinks.
1. ''Play That Funky Music'' is by Wild Cherry… NOT James Brown
2. ''More Than Words Can Say (I Need You Now)'' is by Alias… NOT Firehouse
Recently learned System of a Down did not make the Legend of Zelda song
21:18 I would say Piña colada has similar sounds to Margaritaville, but more lyrical similarities to Jimmy Buffet’ “who’s the blonde stranger” track
This list was made up out of thin air by the Family Guy manatees from South Park. 😒
Almost every single one of these is a stretch.
Brown Eyed Girl is usually thought to be by CCR but it's not.
here's one: Sex on the Beach by T-Spoon, not Vengaboys, who covered it
Never made any of these connections. The only mis-identification I remember making was thinking that Telephone Line by ELO was 10 cc when I first heard it.
OMG this band featuring one of the members of daft punk sounds like daft punk!!1! I don't believe it!
