  1. Im still surprised Darkness Falls fails to make an opening list. The pace and creep factor made it amazing. Had it kept that same disturbing pace throughout the movie it would have been amazing. Still liked it but not as unsettling afterwards.

  2. 286: I didn’t see this in theaters at the time but I watched it at home. The beginning of A Quiet Place is chilling. I know how kids can be but

honestly, that was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen a character do in a horror movie. Pretty sure Randy from Scream would agree with me

  3. 290: This is a performance no one will forget. Drew Barrymore as the first victim is nail-biting and horrifying, which remains classic. Jada Pinkett Smith’s opening to her demise in the sequel is great as well.
The actress in the scream series, um, she was so-so but in 2022’s Scream, I thought she died but she didn’t. Scream 4, definitely my favorite my horror opening. It’s not every day that a horror director would have big list celebrities die off in a movie that’s a movie

  5. I agree with many of these. I haven’t seen all so I can’t have an opinion on those. But I do have a question about those. Do they continue to be good? I won’t say which one’s but I will give you an example of one that I think didn’t live up to the into scene. #1 Scream. After the opening scene the movie and all its sequels (at least the ones I bothered to watch) sucked more than a Hoover.

  6. In this future horror movie, Lady Porcelain, in the opening scene, in the Angel Heart movie fashion, the main female antagonist stalks and kills the gang of male would be rapists in the gruesome fashion, and spares a would be female victim’s life

  7. 28 Weeks Later was the first time I got scared of something happening in the daylight. That money shot of the infected running from the hills is pure chills.

And also my first jumpscare when the woman peeked through the barricade.

  8. I guess I should thank them for not taking the opportunity to trash Ghost Ship again. If you’ve never watched the entire movie, and avoided it based on the negative commentary from WatchMojo, remember not to believe everything you hear. It’s a fun little horror flick with more than just the opening to enjoy.
