Im still surprised Darkness Falls fails to make an opening list. The pace and creep factor made it amazing. Had it kept that same disturbing pace throughout the movie it would have been amazing. Still liked it but not as unsettling afterwards.
Lame how you censored every titular opening
And jaws 2nd? Lol
Not seen Trick Or Treat, Suspiria, Ghostship Midsomar and When a Stranger Calls.
Ghost ship was great
Good list!!
Twilight Zone should be higher
283: It’s been a while since I’ve seen You’re Next on Netflix. Great horror movie, brutal deaths and a great performance by the final girl
284: Mother of God! (Fell off my chair) Had to show that creepy thing. That’s another I watched, 2 years ago. Twilight Zone the Movie really scared me
Suspiria should be WAY higher. Honestly the scariest first 15 minutes of any movie
285: Wes Craven, rest in peace
286: I didn’t see this in theaters at the time but I watched it at home. The beginning of A Quiet Place is chilling. I know how kids can be but
honestly, that was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen a character do in a horror movie. Pretty sure Randy from Scream would agree with me
You should have put final destination in the list
The descent and lights out deserved to be on this list
287: 7 days. Yeah, creepy. I watched The Ring on my mom’s computer. Almost made my heart jump
288: I actually watched the 2019 sequel and the beginning, scary. Other scenes, almost fainted
289: Jaws scared my dad in theaters and for me, it freaked me out but the franchise sucks
WHEN A STRANGER CALLS is the scariest opening scene EVER! It’s what inspired Scream and deserves way more recognition!
290: This is a performance no one will forget. Drew Barrymore as the first victim is nail-biting and horrifying, which remains classic. Jada Pinkett Smith’s opening to her demise in the sequel is great as well.
The actress in the scream series, um, she was so-so but in 2022’s Scream, I thought she died but she didn’t. Scream 4, definitely my favorite my horror opening. It’s not every day that a horror director would have big list celebrities die off in a movie that’s a movie
Scariest scene by George A Romero Day of The Dead opening keep your eye on the calendar I DARE YOU! Also ANY of the zombie killings Bub luring Rhode George cranked the GORE to 11! This was 1985 ya'll
Yesssss ghost ship!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I agree with many of these. I haven’t seen all so I can’t have an opinion on those. But I do have a question about those. Do they continue to be good? I won’t say which one’s but I will give you an example of one that I think didn’t live up to the into scene. #1 Scream. After the opening scene the movie and all its sequels (at least the ones I bothered to watch) sucked more than a Hoover.
Dawn of The Dead opening scene should be here.
The opening scene of the very first Candyman where he gets his arm cut off & is left for dead at a construction site. That was absolutely creepy! Good upload today.
No love for the opening scene of Sinister? That's an injustice that needs to be put right. That scene creeped me out like no other movie has before or since. For shame, Mojo. For shame.
Someone please explain to me why Sinister isn't on this list. Explain it to me like I'm 5 please
Haven't seen the list but Jaws hands down has the scariest opening ever
The OG Ft13 was in 80.
would jaws be as scary if they managed to get bruce to work properly
Hi Kirsten love your voice 😍
Midsommar was in no way scary.. Jeebus.. it's a suspense thriller AT BEST!!
Scream FTW🎉
Yo, Ghost Ship had the best intro 👌
28 Weeks Later might deserve the top spot. That stuff is nightmare level. Also weird how it feels like night then you realize they are hiding in the day boarded up. Just a very nerve racking, flat out scary opening scene…
Please do a list of the best scene in a dramatic movie. And please do it as a top 20.
Great to see "When a Stranger Calls" getting some love. The first hour is legendary, with some fabulous, unexpected jump scares.
In this future horror movie, Lady Porcelain, in the opening scene, in the Angel Heart movie fashion, the main female antagonist stalks and kills the gang of male would be rapists in the gruesome fashion, and spares a would be female victim’s life
The only scary movie that actually scared me was The Ring
28 Weeks Later was the first time I got scared of something happening in the daylight. That money shot of the infected running from the hills is pure chills.
And also my first jumpscare when the woman peeked through the barricade.
28 weeks later with the soundtrack alone should be in top 5
Scream at no.1 really ??? Lol
YESSSS SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Psycho and Dead silence
Idle Hands (1999)
That scene from Twilight Zone scared the ever loving Christ out of me as a kid.
Haven't swum in the ocean since, no sharks in council pools, joined the Army, not the Navy
Ok but what is the name of the movie that was used for the thumbnail 😭
I guess I should thank them for not taking the opportunity to trash Ghost Ship again. If you’ve never watched the entire movie, and avoided it based on the negative commentary from WatchMojo, remember not to believe everything you hear. It’s a fun little horror flick with more than just the opening to enjoy.
