How is "Risk" not on this list? For a list of strategy games, "Risk" should definitely be included. Another one missing is "Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines".

The best Total War game is Shogun 2 and I'll hear no arguments on that.
Crusader Kings II is the best in this list. It's more exciting and less complex than Europa Universalis.
FYI, Braveheart was Robert the Bruce, not William Wallace. As fun as the movie Braveheart was, it had almost zero historical accuracy! 🙂
I'm soooo glad that Rise of Nations made it into this list! Empire Earth would've also deserved it though.
I disagree with this list due to the fact they didn’t put Medieval II total war in the top 10, but put three kingdoms total war above it

It pained me, when they first called Friedrich Barbarossa "Frederick Barbossa" (maybe too much Pirates of the Caribbean?) and then referred to him as a lesser known historical figure… I mean, he literally represents Germany in CIV VI 😀

Its funny cause they included Total War Three Kingdoms at number 8 but did not include Shogun 2 on the list. 3K is a fine game, but it doesn't come close to Shogun 2, even if it was redone thrice it would still be miles behind Shogun 2. Also, no HOI 4? LOL!
While nowhere near as deep or expansive as these titles, I appreciated the Battlestations series because very few, if any, strategy games since them have tackled WWII naval and air combat as effectively as they have.
Empire Earth should've been on the list.

I am so very glad many people are asking about Empire Earth. Such an amazing game.
The original Medieval Total War also deserves to be on this list
I played all of them, and all of them are great (except victoria 3 maybe). If you are new to the genre, you must try some of them, especially the paradox games (very hard in the beginning though)
I like civ5 better than 6
most funny part is that even vanilla EU4 is the best ever game on this list, while it is even much better with all dlc
