Season two was an appreciated trip. I think people are struggling to come to terms that this is not the same as the novels and won’t be seeing that characters have to now serve more purposes than they did in their original novels.
Example, with the crows, Nina is a rebel while with the grisha, she’s a soldier so it was interesting to see her have to switch between the two here. I loved how they cut lot of the fluff in the books that really wouldn’t fly in a series format. The change to the end of Malinas story is also very necessary as it puts a lot of the trope into perspective.
We really shouldn’t expect this much complexity but I think the writers put in genuine effort to get as many of these characters fleshed out. And there are MANY characters, if you think of the number of named individuals in this series. And in the books, EACH of those persons gets the spotlight at some point whether in book 1 in the the first trilogy or book 2 in the last duology. It’s really hard to condense such fleshed out characters now in an 8 episode series and still keep new viewers’ attention and comprehension of what’s happening
The ending was really confusing you dont see inthe whole series how they performing the merzost you dont see how alina learns the cleef where they say it takes a lot of practice i didnt read the books but for me its very bad written the end at least the rest was very good
S3 for the korol rezni !!!
Crows are literally the best part of the show, I don't care
can we all agree that the crows once again carried this show on their backs like the mvps they are? Yes? ok.
i havent read the books but i didnt like how rollins easily took over the prison. it was too easy.
We Stan shadow and bone ❤
Loved season 2. I need season 3 ASAP. Nikolai ❤❤❤
I really hope it gets renewed for season 3. 🥲
I like to share that Leigh Bardugo herself knew that the wouldn’t follow the same storylines in her books & she’s fine with it. I don’t remember word for word, but she did say this show would explore all parts of the Grishaverse & stay true to the source materials but will make necessary changes for the show’s storyline to come to pass. So basically like last season, it’s he characters we know & love from both book series & some of it stories are adapted in the show, but the changes they make are how they all come together since they’re all part of the same universe.🤓
The crows are the best part, hands down!
The casting is nothing short of stunning.
we need that season 3 so everyone keep watching rewatching and binging and tell other people to watch the show so we can that season three and spinoff. Also for those who are book readers watch the show through a lens of remix and fanfiction, it makes the show enjoyable in that sense.
I hated it 😭 all of my favorite things form siege and storm were left out. The angst between Alina and Mal. The build up of the relationship between Nikolai and Alina. Just so incredibly disappointing.
i hope it gets cancelled 🙏🏼 making alina choose being queen over Mal and making mal choosing being a freaking pirate over Alina was absurd
Inej would never leave the crows the way she did, made no sense, there was no development to justify that
there are just too many grave errors and mistakes made with these characters
i don’t think it can be fixed, they should just cancel it and go straight to the six of crows spin off, but ACTUALLY FOLLOWING THE SOURCE MATERIAL THIS TIME
After the changes in s2, some people sound worried about what'll happen in s3, especially with the crows. Personally ………. I don't get why.
The thing about translating a series from one medium to another is that it always NEEDS some changes to bettwer fit that medium. Problem is that NORMALLY … writers don't know how to do that. The writers of Shadow and Bone aren't among them. Quite the contrary.
The Six of Crows Storyline: I'm only addressing this one for now.
The order of events was changed. But it was done in complete favour of the show. It took only the best out of all series in the Grishaverse and put them together very cleverly. Firstly, it let two (now we know three!) series interact cohesively. Secondly, despite "change", the actual core of the characters remained the same.
In explanation of the second: The context of how they happened changed, but the development of the characters had the same effect as they did in the books with a similar enough linear format. To an extent, some things were even stronger.
– *S1 brought in additional scenes that would have taken place prior to SoC*. Such as Inej still being bound to Tante Heleen and her first kill. Which was actually better in the show because both expressed how far Kaz and Inej were willing to go for each other. Nina and Matthias falling in love here aligns with how in this books this occured before SoC. Similarly, the bomb drew on a connection between Kaz and Wylan which matched the fact that Kaz knew Wylan before SoC happened. It also already sewed in the conflict between Kaz and Jesper with the whole coal incident. etc.
– *S2 brought in the drama scenes from SoC*. Such as Jes's friends finding out he's a durast and Kaz's trauma revealing itself in things like touch. Again, the prison wagon scene gave us something more in the show than the book, that being Jesper's desperate reaction, giving us a new moment of his care for Kaz. Like SoC, we see Matthias time in prison, except we actually get a better insight of it, so that he's not just limited to thinking of Nina, but is expanded on through the friendship he forms with his cell-mate. Etc.
– *S3 will likely cover the reminder of the drama present in Crooked Kingdom*. Auch as Wylan dealing with his personal issue. Kaz and Jes's already partially strained relationship maybe worsening only for them to inevitably lash their feelings out and finally make up for real. Kaz continuing to fight the past of Jordie. Matthias and Nina resolving their misunderstanding and anger (y'all know I WANT the show to change something here though …). Kaz trying even harder for Inej after seeing her in danger (nearly dying on the ship? kidnapping? Whatever the writer's choose). Etc.
Who else saw the bee in the last episode and understood the forshadowing ✋
The only thing I liked about the second season was everything about Six Crow.
A good cast for the roles of Tolya Yul-Bataar and Tamar Kir-Bataar.
I really did not like the cast for the role of Sturmhond. He was supposed to be tall and look like a real sea wolf, but he got such a sweet captain. They are known to be unable to wear shoes with huge heels, he is shorter than not only Mal, but also most of the female characters. Where is the stately tall red-haired gallant pirate from the books?
Nadia and Adrik, a complete inconsistency in appearance and not only books. Nadia and her brother Adrik Zhabin are blond and fair-skinned. Plus, Adrik is a teenager of 14-15 years old, just a very young one, eager to fight for his sister, in the series he is an African American overgrown, they couldn’t find anyone younger at all, and are they from Novy Zem – NO.
Alina's story should have been logically ended, retired with her beloved Mal, and that's not all. Alina never wanted attention and power, and did not want to be a saint with power. Grisha Triumvirate doesn't work either because it contains three Grisha from three different orders. But the Grisha Triumvirate consists of Zoya, Zhenya and her husband David, who represent the Materialki order there instead of David.
If there is a series about the Six of Crows, and the very scenes from the Kingdom of Corruption were shoved into Season 2 of Shadow and Bones. The scene in the bathroom with bandages, the fake Wylan and Jasper kissing at the piano, Kaz's revenge for the death of his brother with smallpox, and Inej's fight with the female assassin on the roof, this will not be where it should be. The books have such a fan base around the world, why was it necessary to reveal the members of the Six and their moments, not in the series about the Six of Crows.
I can't explain how much I loved this season. The crows should really get their own show in my opinion. I really hope they'll end the show with a 3rd season 😭😭
HELL YEAH! MY FAVORITE SHOW!!!
I think it's kinda crazy how Inej left the Crows and Kaz but I'm proud of her for choosing herself. I hope we get a season 3 to see where it takes everyone.
Ummm 🤔 Am I gonna have to be the one who says it??
The side story with Jesper and Wylan feels a little creepy what with Wylan appearing so young! He looks like he is 12!
So Season 1 was a Six Of Crows prequel and book 1 of the trilogy
Season 2 was book 2 and 3 of the trilogy along with part of Crooked Kingdom
Season 3 will probably be a mix of the remainder of the Crows Duology and probably the start of King Of Scars and Rule Of Wolves
I wonder how they’ll do it all. I’m excited to see more
How could they have Alina choose between 3 guys. And she chooses Mal? I get she chooses him in the books but they could change that!!
My reasons ARE The CROWS and NIKOLAI!!
Am i the only one who is thirsty over Nikolai? That's one hot 🔥 pirate! Loving the season 2
Genya is such a heartbreaking character I love her
Also wesper supremacy
My number one is Wesper, cuz I love them so much. I want 3 season with more this lovely couple and with hole story about Van Eck
and the one thing we hade on Season 2 is the Darklings dead😭😭😭😭
I enjoyed this season, but I am slightly worried about how they are shoving random elements from Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom in the plot. These events in the books have weight in relation to the context in which they take place and the path that led up to them. But by being randomly put into this series, they lose all value, and galvanize any chance of doing justice to the story and characters in the future. I mean, they put the climax of the last book in the middle of what is ultimately a prequel to the story… ??? … what would be the point of putting the story itself on the screen now? If the story were a body, it's as if they decided to stage its skin, forgetting all its contents, bones, muscles, organs and all. They tell how the characters should be, but they cannot show how or why, because they are not going to put on the screen the history, the motivations, the stakes that together, and not sprinkled here and there along the course of another story, lead to the formation of these six incredible characters and the bonds that unite them. Without the context that formed them, the six of Crows are empty, a figurine compared to the real people. Which is even more unnerving when you consider how they managed to find the perfect cast. Cute fan-fiction series, but now it's time for 2 movies to give justice to the real story
BECAUSE WYLAN IS SO ADORABLE AND JACK WOLFE IS SUCH A PRETTY PERSON
I loved this season. The first season was a little slow. I really liked the pace and action in season two! I really hope season 3 comes back
