Crazy Ex Girlfriend better be #1!!!!!!!!
I’m so glad Empire and Girls5eva was mentioned
I watched this solely to see if Galavant got the credit it deserves, I'm still sad we never got a third season (though honestly we're lucky it even got a second season)
The fact glees was not number one was a let down
Fosse/Verdon deserved more love. I was spellbound by it and I want to see more shows focused on Broadway legends.
How did Nashville not get a mention it’s by far one of my most favourite musical shows ever. Plus it got 6 seasons and the music actually broke into the billboard charts so it obviously had some wow factor.
When you make a list for animated musical shows, Central Park should definitely be #1, or at least top 5.
Gag to all, bring on Garfunkel and Oates
Okay so nowadays if you analyze it better glee may have its problems but I'm a still gleek at heart Don't stop believing everyone
Wow… I can't believe how low Smash is on this list
glee for sure in yet lost 2 of they're key characters naya and cory may they R.I.P also FAME was like that too
None of these shows would even be on TV without the original FAME TV Series…Can’t believe you didn’t even bring that up at all…..sheesh, young kids these days…
OMG I cheered so loud when I saw "Galavant" on the list!!! I don't care if it was only 2 seasons, it was one of me and my best friend's favorite shows to watch together!!!
Thank you for including Galavant. 😍😍😍 it’s so good
How was All I Want not mentioned when talking about hsmtmts…
You shoulda mentioned Star bcuz it was a musical also the story lime and the the song's started getting better than Empire
Why in God's name us Zoey's extraordinary playlist on this list or any list about good musical based shows. I found it extremely hard to watch. Not because of the music but because the acting sucked.
Pushing Daisies. You missed an important one.
Where is Fame and Rags to Riches?????
I was so sad when Zoey’s was canceled. I really love that show but for more than just the amazing cast and great soundtrack. What Zoey goes through of struggling with her father’s illness and then losing him, I’ve never seen anything like it on tv and I was going through something similar at the time it was airing. I love this show so much for how I could actually see myself and something so personal that I was going through portrayed on the screen. Also, team Max!
But let's agree Glee is The musical tv show
Glee, Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Zoey's Extraordinary playlist are my favs!
Galavant is so underrated, its one of the best shows I've seen in a while
Well deserved no.1!!! I loved crazy ex-girlfriend so much and everyone should watch it
Im sorry but Glee should be ranked higher even though its more of a jukebox musical
"Julie and the Phantoms" is my favorite. It's so full of heartwarming moments, relatable characters, and amazing songs. We all love it so much, but Netflix cancelled it because they don't care about their good shows, they only care about their bad shows, and it seems like Netflix hates "Julie and the Phantoms" for no reason. But I'm sure it's not too late to save the show. We must rise up against Netflix and make it get a second season.
amber riley is a powerhouse. she gave me chills just watching her belt out in that whitehouse clip. we need her in more musicals/movie musicals!

I loved Crazy Ex Girlfriend!
Just clicked on this video to see where Galavant landed on the chart. It is by far my favorite 😍
I’ll save y’all some time and let you know that Glee was only #6.
glee was the blueprint!
If there's an animated counter part to this list I hope Helluva Boss is on it.
Nashville anyone???
Galavant!!! That show absolutely deserved to get a 3rd season just for the opening song. It was spectacular! The songs are catchy as hell.
If u ever do this for animated shows y’all better put lion guard on the list lol
Clicked with the thought "If CXG isn't on the list…" and yes, it's right where it needs to be! That show made the world better for so many of us. Hell, I shared it with my therapist! It is impossible to overstate how important it was to hear "…because you just had an abortion!" or "a diagnosis!" or "I didn't want to die, I just wanted the pain to stop" on my television. Plus I've never seen a musical use the genres of the musical numbers as effectively as CXG did, actually adding to the songs' meanings. It's perfection, and yeah, I'm due for a rewatch, because life doesn't make narrative sense.
What show hasn't Kristin Schall pretty much stolen?
I will forever be mad that they didn’t renew Julie and the Phantoms 😭
Julie and the Phantoms!!! They deserved so much better. Thank you for posting this and showing support. 💜💜
Boo. Is this what musicals are like now? I am reminded why I left musical theater behind long ago. Empire was artistically miles above these not funny comedies, wildly annoying intonation and abominations of dance.
It did have African American stars and flavor, so being the most talented gets an honorable mention. The kind of musicals in the top five, here, are unwatchable. But there we are.
