Actor Tom Hanks has been named the Harvard class of 2023 commencement speaker, the university announced.

Hanks, 66, will be the principal speaker at Harvard’s 372nd Commencement, which will be held in Tercentenary Theater on May 25.

  2. Very well thought out call to reason if you ask my opinion. We are all human, we are all due the same liberties, truth should not be considered something malleable to our wants and indifference will drown out our voices. At least that's what I interpreted from his speech.

  3. Tom Hanks is not just an actor. He is a multimillionaire and respected human being. Both of which he earned by very hard work, great intelligence, and the ability to bring heart and mind together for forty years including a life long marriage and fathering good children. Every Harvard graduate there wishes they were in Tom Hanks shoes.

  4. WHY. IN.THE. WORLD. would Hanks be invited to speak at Harvard? I'd like to know WHO invited him. Surely not a group of students. And … with ANY sense of perspective WHATSOEVER, he should have declined the invitation. They might as well have invited an orange tree. Or a cactus.
