  1. Young Brady or Mahomes? Which first 5 seasons are more impressive to you? (Honestly, no wrong answer depending on your perspective!) I hope you understand how i got to my conclusion and enjoy the vid! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to comment and ask

  2. Let’s be real mahomes clears, mahomes was more accomplished as an individual player his first 5 years. He had 2 mvp’s to Brady’s zero that alone should tell you who was more dominant you can talk about diff era it doesn’t change that fact. I absolutely disagree that Brady had to Carry more than mahomes. Brady hee an elite defense to lean on esp during that first SB. Mahomes inherited an awful defense and was asked to put up 30 plus points from day one. This was a fun well researched video but mahomes is the clear answer in my eyes if we’re strictly doin. First 5 years I jus don’t see how you can realistically pick Brady when you look at individual resume. Yes Brady had one more ring but mahomes can do everything Brady can do while there’s plays mahomes can make that brady has never done

  3. I would take Brady. People forget Brady led the NFL in yards & tds with his top wrs being troy brown and deion branch. He seemingly always came through at the end of games & almost never lost a big game.

  4. I'm a bit bias for saying this but I watched Mahomes play in this era I didn't watch Brady back then, so it's tough for me to say from my own viewpoint that Brady was that much more impressive than Mahomes, but from what you've said Brady was in a way worse situation as his coach was not so great at the time, had a far worse supporting cast, and wasn't even considered to go into the first round and not a top prospect, Mahomes, which I have seen, already had a close to if not already Hall of Famer in Reid who was only missing a ring, had a far greater supporting cast and it's not even close, and was even considered to go first at the time and was a top 10 draft pick, so yeah, both two legendary quarterbacks with two legendary coaches in way different situations at those times, so I would say stats, Mahomes, accolades, Mahomes, and success, Brady, but then again you can call me bias for saying Mahomes, no disrespect to Brady, he's still the GOAT, just didn't see it at the time to know.

  5. Brady won with the help of a great defense
Mahomeboy won with the help of a great offensive coach
    Brady achieved over decades
Mahomes has started quick. No one knows what the future holds.
Mahomes has won with his athleticism, he hardly knew how to read defenses in first years.
Brady wins with his mind, study and prep. And leadership.

If Brady had Reid it would be very interesting to see.
If Mahomes had Belicheck and a lesser offensive coach than Reid i doubt he would be the Patrick Mahome we see today.

So they both were in the perfect place for their talents.

  6. Brady all day. If you put Mahomes in Brady’s early generation, Mahomes wouldn’t have won all 3 of those Super Bowls early on. We’ve seen what Brady can do in 2 completely different generations of football plus Brady won over Mahomes when it mattered most in the playoffs

  7. Before I watched a single second of this one hour video, I thought to myself, Mitch is going to ultimately go for Brady and in the end I was right. However, I do appreciate the structure of the approach, the analysis of the data, the appreciation of the eras et cetera et cetera et cetera. As a Patrick Mahomes fan I’m not going to argue with your decision because you’re Patriots fan, but what I will say is that I believe that these are the two greatest quarterbacks in history in their first five seasons; who comes out on top, one can debate but they are light years ahead of anyone else, that I think we can all agree.

  8. I came into this video fully on board with the idea that Mahomes was the clear answer to this debate but you make a lot of great arguments for Brady considering the context that it made me really consider that Brady might’ve been even better than Mahomes. Even I was unaware of just how much more support Mahomes actually had offensively, between the weapons and offensive lines and run games, Brady’s skill positions were not even league average at the time, let alone on Mahomes’s level. The cold weather stuff is real and the points about competition and defenses are excellently articulated. I also love how you explain the differences between eras relative to statistics and also defer to Super Bowl statistics as indicative considering the weather effects are nonexistent other than SB41. You also show how much better Andy Reid was without an all time great QB than Bill Belichick was which I knew but I still find interesting. There’s also the case that Brady was 8-2 in this time vs his primary rivals (Manning’s Colts and Ben’s Steelers), whereas Mahomes was just 4-5 vs his (Burrow’s Bengals and Allen’s Bills).

Overall, I still think Mahomes had the greater first 5 years, as even considering the context of both eras, the statistics and accolades are still significantly in Mahomes’s favor. The winning aspect is a draw to me. Brady won more SBs, Mahomes has him beat in essentially everything else, Brady had worse support offensively and tougher overall playoff competition, but I’d argue Mahomes certainly had less defensive support and also faced better teams in the SB. The 01 Rams were a dominant team, but I’d argue that the 19 49ers, 20 Bucs, and 22 Eagles were all better than the 04 Eagles and certainly the 03 Panthers. I do think the SB point about Mahomes is true but slightly misleading, as he threw 49 passes in SB55 because they were coming back so it had a massive impact on his stats, and from someone that’s watched that game from start to finish multiple times I don’t think he was quite as bad as his stats indicated that night (Several drops on alien throws from him and was pressured more than any QB in NFL history that night). Mahomes’s offense only scored 9 points, but that’s just 4 fewer than Brady’s did in SB36, the difference was the Pats defense was much better in that game than the Chiefs vs TB. Both were extremely clutch in the playoffs with several iconic and memorable moments and comebacks so I’ll call that mostly a wash. Overall, for as much as the context supports Brady’s case, I don’t think that alone gives him this debate, and I still find Mahomes first 5 seasons to be slightly more impressive.

But there’s certainly arguments on both sides. More importantly, this was a great and very well researched/informative video Mitch and I can’t wait for the next Brady/Mahomes vid if it’s anything like this. Certainly one of your best vids yet, throughly enjoyed it. Hope you make more historical content this off-season.

  9. Stop with the comparison of Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. There is no comparison…Tom is the best. Just because Patrick won a second ring they say he is the best. Tom won Back to back rings that Mahomes hasnt done. I am a Latino and I say the Mahomes being best is because he is "Black."
Will Mahomes last 20 years? I don't see him playing past 10.

  10. Imagine doing a comparison of which guy played against stronger and higher rank Defenses in the regular season, playoffs, and Superbowls. Maholmes hasn't come close to playing against strong Defenses. Steelers, Ravens, Broncos, Jets, Seahawks.

  11. Before listening past minute 5 of the video, I am going to guess that you will only be "contextualizing" offensive play style to offset the stat differential between Brady vs Mahomes over the first five seasons. What you probably won't do is account for the defensive contribution toward overall team success for each team over those same five seasons. Not only the defensive contribution to success, but also, how the context of the leagues rules/officiating actually favored the defensive side of the ball during those years. That would be the fair way of contextualizing the entire debate rather than just looking at the major offensive stat lines to "even the playing field" in the way that best supports your argument. Let's see though! I may be wrong…

  12. I watched Brady's full career and Pat's up until this point. I gotta say this is the most nuanced assessment I'm gonna get from this debate. Good job, Mitch! I can tell you're fan of both guys and despite the fact that you're a die hard Pats fan, you put your bias aside. I've been a Giants fan my entire life and I absolutely hated Brady for a while but he won me over as he went on to get his 4th ring. Anyway, have a good one. Salute!

  13. Great points for both sides. I do think the top 10 offenses argument against belichick is unfair considering belichick is a defensive coach. Reids an offensive coach but having bad defenses 3 out of the 5 years of mahomes starting. I also think you forget pre mahomes the chiefs were a defensive team and by the time mahomes came around those core defensive players were declining

  14. If Mahomes wasn’t better in the first 5 seasons to Brady he’ll simply never come anywhere near Brady in a full length career. Brady’s first 5 szns were arguably his personal worsts and it’ll be near impossible for Mahomes to top his first 5.

Your argument is a stretch… but if you truly believe it, then Mahomes nor any other QB will ever come close to topping Brady, which makes me sad.
