  1. Good, smart AI to help build video game worlds that give a feel of the complexity of the real world might be one of the next revolutions in games. As good as GTA or Fallout is, there's an emptiness and flatness one gets from playing these open world games a lot that no amount of incredible graphics can get rid of. Bethesda has been the best at this, but no one's used ai to go to the next level at it yet.

  2. Lost all hype when the gameplay dropped and I realized it was Fallout 4 with slightly better graphics in space, heavily dark shadows that need a ton of work before release and a lot of elements taken directly from No Man's Sky.. Can't believe I'm gonna say this about a Bethesda game but hard pass, my PC died a while back so by the time I can afford a new one it'll be time for Elder Scrolls 6. I'm gonna keep my hype for then, a triumphant return to PC gaming with TES 6 after years of suffering gaming on my phone.

  3. "Hiking alone, you realize that all this has existed long before you, and will exist long after."

The weirdest part of being out in the countryside of New England (after living in California) is the idea that many of the buildings there are older than the trees, rather than the other way around.

Also the roads. The road network was literally designed by bears, or something.

  4. As far as awe goes, "No Man's Sky" does a pretty good job of giant bounding sandworms that act like a fifty-story-tall sine wave weaving in and out of the surface of the planet you're on.

Even that gets old after a while in one play session, but I'm actually tempted to log back in right now to see if I can nab a scan of one.
