Here is the piece I wrote for @lafci and is called “To the Rescue.” It’s inspired by action adventure movies!
Working with the Hollywood Studio Symphony is a dream come true. So many legends have recorded on this scoring stage – and several were standing with us on the stage. I had to put all that out of my mind and focus on all the amazingly talented and gracious players in front of me.
During the week, we worked on our orchestration, score, and instrument parts, and hearing those choices come to life right in front of me in real time was exhilarating. This will forever change the way I compose for a live orchestra and in general!
A huge thank you to the brass section for bringing out my “Dark Knight” melody, to @saraandon4639 for rocking the flute (and the overblows/harmonics)😉, and to Alyssa Park for amazing string work! Also, a huge thank you to all the performers of the symphony! I can’t thank you enough!
And the most enormous thank you and hi-fives to @angelvelezmusic @conrad.pope @booker.white.3 @williamrossmusic__ Emilie Bernstein, Jorge Mester, Michelle Henderson, @encompassmusic @mrdonteva for making the week a huge success.
Also, thank you to all the fellows and auditors for being supportive and encouraging – especially when Jorge made me dance. Wow, that was embarrassing, but it helped me loosen up a lot! 😂
I would definitely do this again, and I hope to be on the podium again in the future. You never know what the future holds. And remember to work towards your goals and push beyond your limitations, because if you fight for your limitations..guess what…You get to keep them! 😉😱
