About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. We dream that someday we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.

  1. its probably one of those braindead hound hunters, they probably trespassed onto your land hunting for that bear you've had around realised they got busted and thus stole the SD card to hide their crime.

  2. Someone once snuck up behind one of my trailcams and turned it off. The camera was on public land and I was scouting for elk. I think I setup the camera in their favorite spot, because I only caught a single image of a portion of their finger taken about 2 hours after I setup the camera. Luckily they didn't steal anything, and I laugh about it now.

    Hope you catch your poacher.

  3. what my friend used to do is have two cameras in close proximity to each other so they both visible to each other, that way if one is tampered with the other will pick it up and visa versa, also gets amazing shots of animals behind the cameras

  4. Need to invest in the more advanced trail cams that send footage directly to your phone as it happens so once theyre on footage they can take whatever they want but theyre caught at that point

  5. Morgan, is it at all possible for two young people in love to be able to fool around on your land? Perhaps they noticed the camera and took the SD card in panic mode.Either this or I agree hunters, in which case id set up cameras in the same place you had that one but from up in a tree looking down, you never know, you might catch them.

  6. Now you need twice as many cameras as you already have, one where you want to see the animals, and one left in a sneaky position it captures the face of the thief, I suppose you could move another camera or switch to the ones that message your phone when they're activated, so you have an image of the thief handy. Frequently when something like this happens on public land, if someone doesnt wake up every morning hunting the culprit to stomp a mud hole in their but and walk it dry, they alert the game warden and they do the same thing. If the whole camera is stolen they place their own camera there with another in a position to capture anyone stealing it or taking the sd card. Usually theyre frequent fliers and they might be recognized immediately, sometimes theyre someone who doesn't realize theyre on private property and they dont want you hunting there, other times theyre just thieves who's mothers probably played the flesh flute to support them…

  7. Morgan, not to sound weird , but you are looking 10 years younger, my friend. Whatever you and the lovely wife are doing, its working! 😃

(No, not insinuating the naughty, lol.)

  8. From one person who geeks out over technology to another. I think your best bet would be to look at ones that have the footage stored on the SD card but also on the cloud. I know there is the technology available with security cameras. The road block you will probably get is with reception I would think. Generally they are done via wifi. I am not sure if there are trail cams that have the same tech in it. I would think if they don’t already that it is something that would happen in the future though.
Only other thing you can do is have cameras out in pairs and having them have each other in frame. You would also have to rely on one being mostly “hidden” for it to catch out someone one.

  9. Someone thought "there's money to be made from uploading trail camera footage to Youtube. We can't afford a couple of trail cameras so we'll just pinch the SD cards from a few trailcams put up by other people, upload them to you tube and start the money rolling in. Nobody will be able to prove that the footage belongs to them".

  10. Don't get angry Bro.. Get EVEN. Those idiots have created an opportunity for you to get more hiTech on your intruders. Re install your cams, but postion them wisely, and disguise them.. Best Regards
