Karelia is a Russian region on the border of Finland. It has more than 430 hard-to-reach villages, many of which have less than a hundred inhabitants, and some even less than ten! These villages often lack grocery stores, internet connection and basic infrastructure. Some of them are able to survive only thanks to the so-called ‘mobile shops’ that deliver food and other essentials to the people who are mostly pensioners.

In this video, I will make a journey with a mobile shop into the wilderness of Russia — where only broken roads, scheduled electricity supply and old people remain from what used to be a Soviet dream.
