Tiny House Shower #3 – Screwing Wattles, Broken Bits, & Cat Adventures

In this video I continue working on the shower in my tiny house barn conversion! The weather has been glorious here in Central Portugal, but Iโ€™ve been inside the cave house, trapped in the shower corner as I attempt to keep the project moving forward. Things are going as planned and Iโ€™m making progressโ€ฆ even if it is a bit slow!

This video sees me finally chipping away enough stone to squash the window into place and I also get some wattles into place in preparation for the daub layer. Find out more about this natural building technique in the video. Mikey the cat also makes a bunch of cameo appearances and goes on a mini adventure!

I hope you enjoy this video, thanks for watching! Please consider subscribing if you havenโ€™t already! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Who'd have thought it could be so relaxing watching you putting up those pieces of timber!
I'm a bit puzzled how the shower window will stay waterproof from the outside wall side when it's raining though. Must be a nice feeling having light coming in through it after having no opening for so long.

  2. Oooh, the pointing on the outside wall looks so good! You have such a wonderful vision for the inside. So the workshed after the whole bathroom is done or are you going to do some days inside work, some days outside work?

  5. Fabulous progress! Fletcher ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ› says Mikey ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ› is one lucky feline! I love the look of the slats too. Might have to borrow that idea as well. Enjoyed the walk, the mossy rocks, water and village streets are a delight. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  6. Well done you kirsty. That shower area is coming together nicely. Looking forward to the process of the wall. The window catflap looks great. The bottle idea is great for the letting more light through. The cat is so funny it's like he is inspecting your work to make sure it meets his standards ๐Ÿคฃ

  7. I love everything about your renovation .. Can I ask a stupid question .. ? .. what if you put in a doorway and built another room for the bathroom out of wood or 1/2 and 1/2 wood and stone .. and .. would you have to get permits for it ? .. there are a few things that it would help like drainage you could have that included in the planning process and place it wherever you want, Awesome work and you deserve alot of credit ! .. ๐Ÿ†

  8. The editing of the cat watching you was hilarious. ๐Ÿ˜‚ wouldnโ€™t it be nice to leave room for a couple of bottles in the wall you are putting together now, so that more of the light from the porthole will come into the main room? Also a well positioned mirror can reflect more of that light into the main space too. Go team! Itโ€™s looking great!

  9. Hi Kirsty, I've just finished watching your latest video, and a question has occurred to me. Will you be doing anything to your roof in the future? I am curious because it doesn't look insulated at the moment. I hope you don't mind me asking? Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Your drill bit breakage is probably due in part to losing the cutting edges on the tip. Secondly you then push too hard to get it to actually โ€œcutโ€. One can sharpen the tip cutting edges and even create a new angle on a bit thatโ€™s broken. Lots of videos on how to. Once you have a working angle grinder that would probably be your way to extending the usefulness of your drill bits and cutting cost and waste.

  13. Always have a plan 75! Lol. How come you keep breaking so many drill bits?. It doesn't matter, all in all it is coming along and looks good. Its a concern of mine why you used good wood like the planed all round and stained when its being covered in wattle & daub. You could have used rough cut timber but who am I… Good job Mikey is keeping a close watch over you, even raising his eyebrows!!. At least he's not telling you what to do as well though. Keep up the great work and posts as its very entertaining and makes you think…

Plan 75 very funny lol. Ur creative problem solving is amazing, christie, have u ever thought about teaching what u know? Having time with friends is a really good thing! The shower wall looks fantastic. My personal feelings is clear plastic panels or lightly frosted glass.
Any who … You are an amazing person.

  15. I love seeing all the ways and different building materials used around the world. In NA its wood and standard material I know we have it pretty cold here so that's important but the process is so fun and educational. I love the ease you approach things, I feel better every time I watch your videos.

  16. YOU CAN LOCK THAT CHUCK after tighten the drill bit itโ€™s realty easy by turning the chuck counterclockwise one click to lock the drill bit in place on all drills this will stop your drill bit from not coming out when you are drilling in reverse to take it out And when you are drilling used the drill set mode not the impact because that will break your drill bits .Drill bits are not made for the impact tour, and needs to be in drill mode only Hope I explain this good enough๐Ÿ‘โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿค™โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‘
