  1. I’ve seen a lot of people think Adelaide is talking about the doctor when she says ‘no one should have that much power’ but she’s literally talking about herself, that’s why she kills herself at the end because she can’t handle the burden the doctor put on her. The future of the human race on her head.

Really nice exploration of what happens to the doctor when he hasn’t got anybody around for him. He really needs a Donna

  2. The whole thing is that they're supposedly fixed points in time moments that are solid like set in stone and they will always happen

While most moments in time are far more pliable more easily altered rewritten could even be erased because of a single decision

That is one of the concepts that doctor whose deals with the doctor himself has the ability to see if a moment is a fixed point or not

In this episode by tampering with a fixed point in time that it is a fixed point her death and being a fixed point does she was going to die that day no matter what because he tampered with it though the conditions of her death changed

And therefore might have changed all of human history to follow or not and I love that the episode doesn't go further into detail and show us whether or not that ultimately delayed when humans spread out amongst the stars or not that's her daughter and granddaughter get inspired the way they did before and that's one of the reasons why this is such an epic episode

  3. The Master's most famous words from the classic who are: ''I am the Master, and you will obey me!''
The Doctor: ''Laws of time are mine, and they will obey me!''
Tenant is many people's favorite, but there are better ones;)

  4. I absolutely agree with you i thought this one was one of the greats out the whole of the Tennant era and this time no happy endings for The Doctor like it was in the previous two specials the only time The Doctor nearly starts to head at the same path as The Master.
This special although it wasn't broadcasted on Halloween this was aired in November 2009 this is considered by alot of people unofficially as a Halloween special.

  5. This is my favourite episode of the show, just seeing the doctor go that far was crazy and the concequences of his actions are so massive it is crazy. This had so many emotional scenes and the atmosphere was incredible. Adelaide standing up to him was very good.

  6. This story (sorry I commented late) is one of The Tenth Doctor's best. Some people say it's overrated… I say personal preference has no objectivity so that means nothing.
What are the things to like about this story? Well it's a Story that starts off fun, and quickly goes into a downward spiral of a terrifying Base under Siege plot. The Flood despite being a simple premise are one of the scariest and most effective villians within NewWho. This is also what I consider the arguable peak of the Tenth Doctor's characterization, going way darker than most other incarnations, he's snapped after constant loss, and because to him he is the only time Lord left, he sees himself as the ultimate authority of space and time, and yet you still feel for him, this is still the most human incarnation since the Fifth Doctor afterall. And when he tries to change the timeline because he thinks he can, he's proven wrong, she still dies but this time by her own will. It's such a brilliant showcase of 10 as a character and just a dark and entertaining story in general. Kind of makes you wish they went somewhere with The Time Lord Victorious, and while they did in side media like audiodramas and comic books, it would've been nice to see that televised.

  7. I burst out laughing when you said "is he pissing himself?" It was just so left field while I was preparing myself for the jumpscare lmao.

You're so right about that last finale really affecting him. He struggles with the concept of mortality. Being the last of his kind and having so many of his friends having such infintesimately small lifespans compared to his. Even surrounded by people, he didn't even try to stick with some of them because he knows he'd lose them some day and he can't bear it. But he needs someone with him, to keep him sane. To keep him on the right track, to regulate him. He needs a Donna to tell him to stop, a Rose to tell him to be kinder when he's at his wits end, a Martha to tell him to act. Without someone with him he can be cruel and sharp and act like he's some kind of God like you said. Because that's almost what the timelords were and now it's just him. It hurts for him to invest himself in people, especially the older they are, but he can't seperate himself from them because this is what happens when he alienates himself, he becomes dangerous. Someone else mentioned the similarities between the doctor and the master in this episode. And I can't help but think, if they just met at different points in each others lives, and could stand to stay together. They could be friends like they used to be. If the master and the doctor ran into each other here, before adelade killed herself, before the doctor moved swiftly to regret and denial. There could've been 2 mad people in that box. I just find scenarios where they could get on and work together to be really interesting. It wouldn't be the healthiest for the doctor now but. Maybe what the master needs are friends of a different species, to better him. But the godlike status of timelords means he thinks everyone but himself and the doctor insignificant. So he never takes anyone else seriously, it's a shame. I'm thinking in the future he'll be forced to reconsider that stand though, which would be exciting, if that happens.

  8. This is one of my favorite episodes because of how emotional it is. I actually cried when Adelaide lays into him about how he making choices that could impact the future negatively. It just really hit how unlike the doctor he was in that moment when he talks about ruling the laws of time and being the time lord victorious. He's lost so many people, and even if they don't die, he always ends up alone in the end that at this point is finally broken him and he no longer cares about the repercussions of his actions until he realizes that in this new time-line he is directly responsible for Adelaide's death and it brings him back and makes him realize again that he can't save everyone and his actions will always have consequences whether his intentions were good or not.

  9. Simply put one of my fav eps in the whole of Who to this day!! Base-under-siege eps are a staple of DW but this just hits. Supporting cast are superb & Lindsie Duncan is outstanding next to Tennant. When they die it hurts. In that one moment The Doctor as "The Timelord Victorious" is the closest to The Master he has ever been ❤
