Politicians/ media boldface lying/ gaslighting/ defaming political foes shouldn’t be protected speech-> speech that argues in good faith one’s opponent, is protected.
The more public & reach an individual has the more they should be legally accountable. Saying someone is a Nazi or racist or xenophobe or wants to put black peoples in chains or etc, w/o presenting factual evidence, shouldn’t be protected political or media speech.
It used to be that there was at least good faith debates & balanced reporting, where politicians might claim a falsehood, but it at least had some reality to it but was taken out of context; now it is a free for all. Make up claims out of thin air, and claim ‘anonymous source’ to sell it.
Politician, their campaigns, and serious journalists must be held to a much higher standard, and more accountable… but how this is achieved w/o risk of abuse is the question/ struggle.

How about we take care of ourselves first, then if we have extra oil we can sell it to Europe. The United States first, and the other countries come last. Ukraine isn't winning the war, it's the United States and the taxpayers and all the money and equipment we keep sending over there winning the war. If it wasn't for the U.S sending over all those resources, Ukraine would have lost by now. I'm tired of all these politicians wanting and willing to give our money and resources away to other countries. The United States and its citizens first, everyone else last. This is both parties' problem.

I think the reason Ian is so hard to pin down to and ideology is because he is so open minded and so compassionate. He just wants each person and each case to be given what's right and just, but he's so open minded, that it's hard to say what's just and right for each individual.
