“Why don’t you throw me overboard? I’m just so much extra pounds. Throw me out too.” These were the words of Technical Sergeant Forrest Lee Vosler who had been injured in his plane the Jersey Bounce Jr.
On December 20, 1943, Technical Sergeant Forrest Lee Vosler and his crew were aboard their B-17F, Jersey Bounce Jr, flying over Germany. Amidst heavy flak, they successfully dropped ordnance on industrial complexes in Bremen. However, disaster struck when a flak shell hit the wing of their plane, causing a fire in one engine and loss of power in another. Falling away from the formation, they were left vulnerable to enemy fighters. Vosler, manning the .50 caliber machine gun, watched as nearby bombers were attacked and fell from the sky. Their plane was next. Two Bf 109s attacked from behind, hitting tail gunner George Buske and sending a shell into the fuselage, injuring Vosler. In a desperate attempt to keep the plane flying the crew pushed as much out of the plane as they could. At which point Vosler made his request to sacrifice himself for the lives of the crew.

WW2 a plane is about to crash the pilot says we need to reduce weight. A Brit jumps up says God save the King and jumps out. An American jumps up says God Bless America and jumps out. An Aussie jumps up grabs an American and throws him out and says God bless Australia.
1st video I recall seeing of this channel. I’m impressed. Subscribed 👍
thank you for coming to save us
The man just had his eyes shot out and he's in a plane that is about to crash into the ocean, he's not being brave, he gave up on life.
Brave is when you have everything to lose and still do it because your sacrifice will make a difference. Obviously, throwing him out will do nothing for the airplane. You need to rthrow out a dozen men to make the plane so much lighter that it can survive. He just wanted to die and people probably would have let him do it thinking that he was being brave.
Lawrence Oates last words from Captain Scott's 1912 North Pole Expedition:
“I am just going outside and may be some time.”

PTSD stuff, right there.

"It's been a great twenty years."
😮
Faced with jumping or burning to death most guys would jump….
The title of this video is about a 3 second drama sesssion. 👎
Amazing story of incredible bravery. Well presented
Imagine you're a German civilian watching and you see a whole 50 caliber gun coming down 💀
great video, animations and modelling, but you might need a bit more work on the voice acting
11:11 he got more 😂
The amount of B-17 crews that never returned is astonishing.
The tail gunner George Buske is my grandfather. This is a great video to see it can only imagine so much reading about it. There is a book Saving Sgt. Buske with great detail of the mission. Only concern is I believe he shot down the German plane
before going unconscious. He was a very humble man so didn’t tell much detail of the missions. Plus would say “ I passed out, don’t remember much lol” He was a great
man who is missed very much.
Well, that was a misleading video. Also, don’t play war thunder. It’s a very boring game and it also ends up rigging against you. There’s plenty of evidence online if you don’t believe me.
The work you do is amazing. Theses stories always have me hooked.
My Great Uncle Stanley Moody was on this plane and was the one in the top turret right next to Vosler. He was with Vosler for a good amount of this ordeal as well, and I'm surprised he wasn't even mentioned by name. There's a good Spotify audio file of my Great Uncle giving his firsthand account, but my comment keeps getting deleted when I include it. I'd honestly like to see a more realistic representation of what happened, and would love to give you the info I have.
Jump Forest!
Such an amazing story and video! Thank you so much for sharing!
Your Videos got me into history Thx (great animations btw)
This is awesome

Memphis Belle to Mother and Country, come in.
Brilliant story of Forrest Lee Vosler receiving the CMH for saving his B-17.

2:15 He can not know, if they know it already or not. So he must tell them everything.
I enjoy these vids. However…not fond of ads to buy war games. I believe education is the goal in WW2 stories but the games desensitize young people
I Really like to look for the cat in every video! And the animations are So cool!
man I love these B-17 story and animations!
Does anyone know if any Medals of Honor were given when the americans killed the native americans ?
8:17 bro thinks hes walter white
I have warthunder
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Great Show !!!!!!!
“You’ve got a hole in your left wing!”
I love your videos but you are referring to the ME109 as a BF109. That began in the 90s, calling them
bf after the factory some were built in. A recent video addressed this subject. Willie Messerchmidt designed the plane and eventually bought the BF factory, which makes the point a moot subject. However, the video asked what the pilots who flew them called it. It was the ME109. Think about it for a moment. Messerschmidt build a lot of other planes which were called the ME including the jet, so it is actually WRONG to call the 109 a BF.
Not to mention it’s about -10 to -50 degrees in there
Plus an Air Force ad 😂
Team work and extreme dedication…Well done men….
I am so glad that you didn't animate Vosler's wounds as gory as they probably were…
Such a heart warming story.
