This movie was stupid… Taika went from funny action in "Ragnarok" to "Scary Movie" and "Hot Shots" levels of stupid
The goats absolutely leave me crippled laughing. Didnt realise "screaming goats" are an actual thing!!! O_o
In my opinion this film would have been split into two films. A lighthearted one about Jane becoming thor and a darker one focusing on gorr. Pretty much like the comics.
Hey, great review as always. As a possible suggestion can I recommend the Tom Hanks TV series from the earth to the moon. As you liked band of brothers and apollo 13 so much I think you would love it.
So tired of comic book and Marvel crap – I'm 63 not 13.
Unlike a lot of folks, I really liked this movie (though Ragnarok was still better).
Speaking of Matt Damon I would love to see your review on Good Will Hunting. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck wrote it and won an Oscar for it and Robin Williams best performance by far.

“I wanted the kids to retain their innocence” ffs this is a goofy comic book movie! God I didn’t even LIKE this movie but I’m inclined to defend it to these wet blankets 😅
I love how ridiculous the Thor movies are. And Gorr gave it a much needed contrast in tone.

I like all the first three Thor movies… this one:
First half: 4 out of 10… the humor part too much, too cheesy.
Second half: 8 out of 10, really like the core story and the execution.
Info: the goat is part of the Norse viking lore – so it paid homage to that (even though silly)
This film's biggest flaw is that Taika Waititi is simply not the right director for the subject matter here. It isn't that he isn't a good director, but Mighty Thor (Jane) having cancer and Gor the God Butcher are just too serious and dark material for his type of film. Every good part of this film is undercut by forced humor and tonal shifts that feel jarring and take you out of the narrative. This film under a different director could have been a masterpiece, especially with Bale as Gor. Its a damned shame what a missed opportunity this film is.
When thor does the splits and the jumping helicopter kick it is a tribute to Jean claude van damme. Ps I really enjoy your reactions there fun.
Zeus is the only reason I liked this movie
the entire movie should have been about Gore! Thor – The rise of Gore The God killer. I'll say it, Bale should've never been in this movie.
Taika Watiti's brand of wacky humour is awful. It overpowers the story, undercuts any and all dramatic moments, and reduces every character to the comic relief role. The disparity in tone was so jarring it felt like two completely different movies smashed together. He persistently trades genuine, heartfelt emotion for cheap, cheesy, over the top comedy, most of which fails or is cringey. Thor deserves better.

About the "tone", it´s still made with kids in mind and that´s why its a heavy up and down
this was my least favorite Thor Film.
These two are the kind of people this movie was made for ..definitely not for more serious fans of Thor
