It just struck me, Thomas reminds me of Snape from Harry Potter in a lot of ways, both aren't good or bad, they're both. Just like all of us, whether you choose to acknowledge your dark side or not. Both are very intelligent fellows, hiding many secrets from others about themselves. But they both love, deeply, and don't mess with those they care about.
On the other hand, Nanny West is a BEECH! Boy I wanted to backhand her a few times and see how SHE liked it!
Thomas could be like a Dickens novel: He was the best of characters, he was the worst 8f characters.
