Transport Fever 2:
Provide the world with the transport infrastructure it needs and make a fortune with custom-made transport services. Watch your trains run on rails, your buses and trucks thunder along roads, your ships power through the water, and your planes soar through the skies. Carry people on their way to work or play, and be the reason cities grow and thrive. Deliver raw materials and goods to drive the economy. Experience the greatest logistical challenges from 1850 to the present day, and build a transport empire unrivalled anywhere else on the globe!
Free play offers a huge range of creative possibilities, while campaign mode re-writes transport history across three continents. Transport Fever 2 offers a choice of over 200 vehicles from Europe, America and Asia, modelled in extreme detail; and with the in-game map editor, you can re-create landscapes from three different climate zones. Finally, the realistic transport and economy simulator, along with comprehensive modding support, round off the gameplay experience.
A huge game world is waiting for your railroads, road vehicles, aircraft and ships. Intuitive interactive rail construction tools and a modular construction system for stations make it easy to build and expand your transport empire; and thanks to a wide range of configuration options, every free play game provides a new challenge, where completely different strategies can lead to success.
It is vital to adapt your company to the needs of the economy and cities: bridges, tunnels, switches, rail signals, one-way streets, light signals, and bus lanes are just some of the possibilities you can use to optimize the transport infrastructure. Even train stations and airports can be expanded with modules in order to meet different requirements; and various data layers help you visualize traffic volumes and emissions, and provide information for further improvements.
Thanks to the detailed game world, you can develop your very own virtual railroad landscape: the map editor provides the possibility to create countless different worlds; the terrain in the game can be adjusted and painted; and thanks to the extensive modding support, new creations are being developed constantly, which are available for free via the Steam Workshop and which can be easily integrated into the game.

I have an opinion on this, the Cities-series is mayor side , while the TPF series is more tycoon-side , it would be fluff including transit realism in a city builder, or a city builder in a transit game….. one can dream for a combination but that probly would feel frustating on both sides……
(STILL HUGE THX FOR DEPOTS THO)
For me the choice was easy. I can play Transport Fever 2 with decent framerate. I can't play Cities Skylines 2 with any framerate. So, yeah. The fever continues.
transport fever is so much better, I was looking to buy this but looks like I will pass completely
This will be interesting
The Goat off hierarchy 😀
Well, unsurprisingly, Cities Skylines isn't focused on transport in the same way. People mostly play it for designing cities, highways and all that stuff. Making pretty cities. Which is perfectly fine, but a slightly different motivation than Transport Fever 2
AWSOME!!!!
Good thing is, I have bought both games/ prebought both and have tried them both. I feel neither are better, it's better to just enjoy the games you enjoy and just have your own opinions. If this is how you choose what you like. That's ok!
For me TF2. Especially now found the way to keep train speed normal but slow the passage of time, so can have the Steam to Diesel transition period (1950s) last for as many hours as I want, instead of storming to next era due to default calendar speed.
2023 should be a happy year for Cites Skylines sequel, but I'm not happy at all, now I must wait for the real next generation city builder game, you made the comparison, and since I found out TF, I always dreamed about the sequel be like a crossover of Cities Skylines and Transport Fever 2, the mechanic of rails and roads are way better than CS2, there's no snapping like TF2, I don't even believe after all these years they're not capable of learning with other games, in reality they took inspiration of Sim City a very very old game, idk, the decisions, just make me disappointed, in my opinion the transport simulation from TF2 should be on Cities Skylines sequel, also I love that mechanic of the game you can go to steam times and see the cities evolution, the old vehicles, buildings and the growth changes, this could be so huge on Cites Skylines 2, could have a history mode, so much potential ruined, the code is already done, it's the same as Cities Skylines 1, the trees are the same, the water is exactly the same, just added water reflection, inundation doesn't affect anything, cars will drive like nothing is happening, there's also the tornados that look like all the crap that bad games do, I don't agree with the idea of calling Cites Skylines 2 the next generation of city builder, it should be called Cites Skylines 1.5…
Man I just was thinking, the features that cites skylines have, transport fever having those could be a blessing, it's like merging the good with the better, TF have the best qualities for transportation simulation, but lacks on scale, everything is done small so the transport infrastructures will shine more, but if TF got the elements from a city builder like cites skylines it could be epic and way more people could buy Transport Fever games, same is for Cites Skylines, lacks on the simulation of transportation, the control we don't have, we get the same vehicles, you can't buy them, you can't do anything just the game doing things over the players, so you most of the time is playing with the rules of the game, which in Transport Fever 2 is better for already having features made to make it even better, you have the sacred modular mechanic that other games didn't get well done, not even Cites Skylines 2 did it, even tried to replicate the upgrades from Sim City but still on bad bad bad shape because you can't have control of how parks are built, how schools can be improved, upgraded, invested, the customable, with could be helped with the advanced modular mechanic, so, TF needs the qualities of Cites Skylines, which are the sizes, in TF everything is small and compact, so you don't get the magnitude of these infrastructures, the road network tools are good but you can't really get lots of options like mods from cities skylines 1 have acquired thought years, this is where the traffic management of cites skylines could help TF3 in the future if they're planning it…
But I know how much Cites Skylines is good, how authentic Transport Fever 2 is, but I will name a third name, Workers and Resources Soviet Republic, that fixed it, it has the qualities of Cities Skylines in a portion, and innovative mechanics that CS and TF doesn't have, the Industries are big and you can built it asset by asset, and there's way more, roads need resources to be built, you have to wait for it, you must buy all the construction vehicles to get things in operation, the same as TF, you can buy vehicles of that period of time, eqch of them have their own needs, efficiency and also a limit of operation, you must have a gas station, you need to extract oil to make combustible for the vehicles to get fuel, you have to plan everything, and you can get the resources available on your region, you can plan rails infrastructures, you can build a city, and you need to manage it well, they need thongs so you must work to get those profitable resources, and the game have more mechanics that CS or Transport Fever, but it's a game made by few developers, the passion is there, I love this game, and I know if the dev had a big team of devs helping to make the game big people could play it more, there's not a lot of videos of this game, Seems like the good ones are forgotten, Colossal Order always trying to repeat the success of Sim City failed, people are not happy, maybe if they had seems this other games the sequel could be wayyyyy better, but this is not the case, the game is bad on performance, out of content to wazo, and will probably milk for years from DLCs…. 😐
People didn't learn anything with the fall of Sim City games, EA destroyed it, ofc no way other city builder game couldn't have to face the same destination… which is a shame, the year of renovation turned out to be a continuous nightmare…
I don't know what's the next big city builder game, but in my opinion I think the developer from Workers and Resources Soviet Republic will eventually make a better city builder game in the future, also I want to believe that the next Transport Fever 3 can have a little bit more of city builder aspect, fix the scale maybe, or someday make their own city builder using transport fever as base game to make a extraordinary game, because they're the ones to make the best modular mechanic, it's extremely fun to make train stations, imagine this feature for city services, parks, and other utilities…all I can do is dream and dream… because I have no clue what's going to happen anymore, Cites Skylines 2 left me with a bad taste in my mouth, and I can't really feel excited, but rather scared than happy, I'm not convinced, and I don't trust Paradox Interactive or Colossal Order anymore, for a long time they milked Cites Skylines 1 with DLCs, not make a significant update for the game, the vanilla is awful, ofc you need to download 1000 mods to have fun, modders saved it, not the devs…the reason of my fears.
I have been really disappointed with CS2. Without hundreds of mods and DLC's Transport Fever 2 is still my choice.
The comparison isn't fair because the games have different focuses, C:SII being focused on making cities, while TpF2 is focused on making transport empire
TF2 everytime…Why? Because it has trains and lost of cool train mods………..Its that simple! lol
Looking into Transport Fever 2 now due to how terrible the performance AND quality is of CS2.
I wish the cs2 trams weren’t glitchy
this is not a Comparision I ever expected lol.
Loving CS2 so far. Probably the best city builder i've ever played. The transport side is good but not really on par with TF2 yet. The devs do like DLC so you never know what they will release for it in the future
I have to tell u you are my favorite youtuber right now. I love trains and I love transport fever 2. I keep rewatching ur brutal series. !!!!
Where can you find the movable train bridge?
Takeaway
Cities Skylines II = Yikes minus natural disasters.
Transport Fever II = The Gold Standard
Okay, so few things…
First of all, TF2 isn't an unknown game. While CS2 has – so far – 1.3m units sold, TF2 has almost 700k. I wouldn't call that "unknown" at all.
The second thing is, comparing a city management game with a transport management game just because both are management games is an unfair approach.
You wouldn't compare X4 with Space Engineers just because both are about space, as you wouldn't compare Bus Sim 21 with Forza Motorsport just because both are about vehicles… I mean, come on.
CS2 is a city management game in every aspect. TF2 is not.
In CS2, your job is to manage population through services, supplies, industries, taxes, societal issues, zoning, buildings, traffic, trade, AND you can do a bit of public transport as well.
In TF2, your job is to manage supplies. Nothing else.
The so-called "city management" you can do in TF2 ends at building roads in cities and delete buildings you don't like. You can't designate zones, you can't actually manage the everyday life of your citizens, you can transport them within and between cities, and you can deliver supplies to them.
You also can't decide what type of industry a city will have, you can't set up said industries, you can only choose how many demands a city will have.
You can't choose between one and the other, because they're two completely different games, therefore, none can beat the other. In a transport managerial aspect, yes, TF2 is miles ahead of CS2, but CS2 is not, and never wanted to be a tranport management game, as TF2 is not, and also never wanted to be a city management game.
Most of your videos are really cool, I like many-many ideas, but to be fair mate, apart of the misleading clickbait, this is just simply isn't a video that makes any sense.
Stick to TF2 content because you are really good at that, but drop this BS please.
You know what'd be a dream come true? If the City Skylines Devs and the Transport Fever 2 Devs joined forces to make the ultimate city building game.
Why argue which one is better when you can work together to make the best?
You can’t really compare a brand-new game to an old game TPF3 is plan to come out next year 2025.
It would be really cool to see a mix between TPF2 and CK2.
Research would be a great addition to Transport Fever.
The better thing about trams in city skylines 2 is you can build tram only roads.
What are the big problems with transport fever is that it doesn’t start early enough it should really start 1800 before trains and steam powered ships.
You can change the vehicles in the transport lines overview.
