I think he is just more ponylike – his stride is not as big as Banksy and he makes up for stride length by power and speed. It would be nice to quiet that turbo ride! That being said, he looks very safe and careful and I think it is just how he goes! Fast and fun! Maybe too, the fences are low and not much of a challenge. That ping you talk about is definitely there and I think when they get bigger he will back off a bit and you if you can get that power setting back on his hocks? Whoooheee! Can you see him in a jumper speed class? Little but fierce and those butt muscles look like he can more than handle what you put in front of him. Still, you are very smart to take it easy with the firecracker. I must admit, it would have been hard for me not to bump them up a little just to see what he can do. But you left on a good note with a happy pony and a happy you. Enjoy dinner!

Why do all of you, well the youtubers I watch, use steps or a legup to mount your ponies? Seems very odd to me. I and everyone I rode/ ride with mount from the ground. I'm only short and have rods in my back after spinal surgery but still manage to mount a 17hh gelding without a issue. How do you get back on after a fall? Does someone have to appear with a step? I'm genuinely curious.
