I was using this exact mobo, an i5-4690K, 16GB of DDR3, and a 1080Ti up until around 2020. It was always rock solid, and it ran the games I played just fine. TF2, Overwatch, Fallout 4, and Mechwarrior Online all worked at 4K 60Hz max details without issue, ARK had to either be brought down in res or on some levels of detail, it was the one game I couldn't max out at 4K.
Edit: I guess it's not the exact mobo, I had the AC version which had the header and part to add the wifi/BT module.
Until late last year , I was running a DDR3 system with a 2012 bios , an AMD top of the line CPU,32gig ram and an nvidia GTX 1060 GPU.I was (reasonably) running Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and getting better frame rates than the old Microsoft Flight Simulator X.Go figure………………………………….
my 3930k sandybridge keeps pace with ryzen 5700 on day to day things. Encoding and such not close though.
im still on the 4770K, upgrading soon, probably the 15900K when it releases. Just ran Dead Island 2 high graphics with a 6600XT at 1440p, ran fine. no solid state drives. The steam hardware survey still suggest 8GB ram is the most used. as of right now the most popular speeds is 2.3 Ghz to 2.69 Ghz. Its possible MOST people are playign todays games with old hardware like i am. Soon ill be upgrading to the 15000K in a couple years. Looking forward to that.
Excellent video as always
I have an older system that I upgraded for my son using an i7 4790 with a GTX 1650 OC edition
24gb 1600Mhz ram, and the system works just fine 🙂
It's good to see that this CPU is still very much alive 🙌
5820k still working well for me.
no backplate? so i am not the only one!!!
Got you best i7 860 oc 3.9 16gb ram 1070 GTX
flying dcs and msf2020 in vr
Would like to see a i3 6100 build
not everyone has the money or the right sponsorship for brand new processor or mobo every time a new model launch. you would have way more subscribers if you include that segment of people.
Jay, that's exactly the processor I'm using today. i7 4770k on a Asus Hero VI, with 8gb sniper g skill ram ddr3 1600, 840evo 500gb ssd, rtx 260 super, Pc Power Cooling power supply with integrated cables.
The i7 4770k is a formidable CPU. i learned a long time ago from a good friend to stop upgrading everything, just max the ram and CPU of the motherboard at purchase time and just keep upgrading the graphics cards over the years as needed, of course with respect to adding a SSD if HDD are still used in the build. Sound, Froogle advice.
Also, Jay, you can install windows 11. Use an SSD on a laptop that allows for W11, once windows is installed, transfer it to the PC. Done!
i7 4770k as of 5/13/2023, still buzzing along
I am using this CPU OC at 4300Mhz(it's 5000+ Cinebench score), with a tower cooler, so you can go much more than 43 with AIO).
Still running my i5 4460 and gtx 1060 6gb.
THAT IS THE BEST PRE ROLL AD FOR IFIXIT
Use "rufus" to use a windows 11 ISO that bypasses TPM – to USB
I'm still running windows XP…
I'm still running an i5 4440 and GTX 980
I'm still using a 4790k and FINALLY starting to feel it… But I think a new GPU will make up for it
I also started building a 6 core triple channel ram system for giggles before covid killed GPU prices… I need to finish it.
In 2016 I built a system with a 4GHz i7 6700K, 32GB DDR4 2800, and a GTX970.
I was expecting to do a mid-life upgrade around 2021 to a 95W TDP 5GHz 8 core processor and upgrade the video card to one capable of gaming at 4k with over 60fps.
Obviously that never happened, because Moore's Law seems to be dead, and prices and power consumption on 4k capable graphics card went through the roof. My 7 year old build still performs solidly on AAA games at 1080p, so I still have no need of an upgrade…
I got shitloads of old computerparts 🙂 SSD DDR DDR3 etc, 😀 and a old 3570k cpu complete build computer 🙂 I prolly gonna sell it or throw it away if nobody wanna buy it
I had to stop the video when it was being questioned if a 4th gen Intel could install Win11.
What is he using to see gpu utilization ingame?
I still use my 4790k and it still rocks…
But I do love my I9 11th gen 10nm a little bit more.
Why are you surprised that it boot ?
I'm still using everyday 10 years for gaming and video editing an 4790K@4500Mhz all cores ; ASUS Maximus VI Extreme ; 32GB 2400Mhz ram ; GTX 1700 Ti and 2 SSD.
Surprised it wasn't a i7- 4790k … good ol devil's canyon.
Still using it but I'm already planning on a new pc build for this decade.
