  1. My worry about a MH game where you aren't a hunter is that you'll eventually want to hunt a monster yourself, then the management aspect will fall to the back burner. I'm not sure how easy it would be to balance hunting with building.

  2. I'd like a RPG like stories, but one that takes itself and the pre-established lore a bit more seriously. Simple things, like having a quest line to obtain and explain where Bloodbath Diablos comes from. Not just having it hatched from an egg.

  3. Honestly this is all cool but I'd also like to see a monster hunter where we were sent by the guild to establish a new settlement. So, this way you still have all the hunting but, you are constantly upgrading and building new buildings of your village, others can visit your village or help with things that are harder to build. It would be interesting.

  4. The type of MH game I'd LOVE is a horror-style MH game where we can still fight but we are barely any more powerful than an npc so even a velociprey is an absolute HELL NO.

We'd be sneaking around from area to area, having to study and analyze the environment so precisely as to not run into any dangerous creature otherwise we'd get legitimately torn to shreds or smooshed to paste

    Basically Death-Stranding MH

  5. It'd be interesting to have an L.A. Noire style game where you play as a Guild Knight tracking down and capturing a poaching ring. Have a mix of investigation, interrogation, and action combat while also exploring a bit of the lore that hasn't really been touched.

  6. One game that touches on the whole play as the monster idea is Golden Treasure: The Great Green, where you play as a dragon and go through the cycle of hatching, growing, gaining territory, and surviving, all from this really unique perspective. I'd love to play a game like that as something like Bazelgeuse or Almudron.

  7. Having a management with setting up towns and camps while sending out hunters to those locations would be neat idea, like playing as the guild it self and watching the current Monsters and cost or taxation of monster trade and parts or if threats are heading to towns to manage and divert with hunters would be a dream.

  8. Honestly that first game you speculated/imagined sounds like it would be cool. Like I can't lie an officially licensed Monster Hunter equivalent of The Isle sounds like it would be a blast, although given that animal survival games are a niche within a niche I doubt any AAA studio would even know its a subgenre you could make a game in.

  9. I’ve always thought a third person monster fighting game would be awesome; plenty of locales to choose from for backgrounds, all the monsters already have diverse movesets and turf wars are already a main mechanic in the series. Just give us complete control of their moveset, maybe add a few more for complexity and balance, and it’d be perfect.

  10. Ok, but a Dynasty Warriors-style game where you smash through hoardes of small monsters to help an overrun locale, and the commanders are lust large monsters – it would have almost like exoprimal vibes. Then you could legit have a 'villains' mode similar to other warriors games where you actually play as the monster and mow down felynes and the commanders are hunters.

  11. MH 4 where your the Gora Magala and just trying to vet your golden adult scales but 4 tiny annouing things flinging around bones and sticks bigger than themselves keeps trying to kill you. That sounds fun, I want to play it.

  12. when talking about games where you play as the monster my mind went immediately to The Isle, people enjoy playing as dinos so why not take that and apply to the Monster Hunter monsters, hell a dedicated modder/mod team could theoretically make that happen and if it gets enough positive attention it could spark Capcom to do something more official

  13. What I want to see is one franchise to unite them all. I just want one lore, one esthetic, one idea. I want more of what I like, what’s comfortable. If all games could just be 100% nostalgia, I would be in heaven. Just keep using the same characters that I know and love, please. I want my video games to reflect my expectations for real life where I never have to feel uncomfortable or think about ever having to say goodbye to anyone or anything that I love. If game designers could just serve up that, I would promise to mindlessly buy everything they dish out. I swear, it would be the safest investment they could ever make.

  14. I think a monster hunter themed survival game kinda like subnautica would be amazing, gathering recourses and establishing a camp and avoiding monsters all while documenting everything around you

  15. I personally want something more like Monster Hunter + Stardew Valley. Where all of the farming is something you do between hunts, and there isn't a resource center to purchase things like potions from. Another cool thing could be finding plants on the hunt in order to unlock new crops, and using monster parts (like bones) to fertilize the fields.

    What do y'all think?

  16. The only thing that would make that worth while is if you can write your own silly quest text. Make up the silliest justifications for hunting monsters that we've ever seen. I'm joking, mostly.
Imagine a system where… Nah that would never happen, the guild doesn't give a shit why you want something dead. They just look at the list and go. "Yeah hunting more of X monster won't cause any trouble. Hell we were going to have someone cull those fuckers next month anyway. This quest is approved, we'll get someone on that, soon." Yeah, making silly quest text for any goofy/semi cruel reasons is never really a concern in these games and it's hilarious.
Being the monsters could be fun, if it was made by people with actual talent and a budget. Not just some fools making this pay to win jank.
Lol Monster Hunter Death Stranding, also known as Monster Hunter Delivery boy, would be funny.

  17. What I want is to merge mobile and console. Hunt on console and gather materials manage your palico train and all those things on mobile so you can concentrate on hunting when your on console. That would be amazing because you stay interacted in the game even when you’re away from the game.

  18. I'd love the idea of an RTS/Base Builder Monster Hunter game. In my mind you would have to send out Scouts regularly to figure out what kind of Monster is coming and how long you have to prepare for it. Then from there you build defenses and Train Hunters to go gather your materials or clear out lesser monsters so you can have villagers gathering materials.

  19. I had a weird idea for how playing as the Monster could work in a MonHun game: What if your hunter took a psychotropic substance as part of a ritual and wound up "seeing" a hunt from a Monster's eyes – basically allowing you to play as a Monster? You could go up against human-controlled hunters in specialized quests where both parties get special materials.
