THIS is How You Redevelop While Preserving Your History in Cities Skylines! | Verde Beach 102
Hello everyone and welcome back to Verde Beach! Many of the oldest neighborhoods in Verde Beach have not been changed since they were originally developed, which is not at all how the real world works. In this episode, we’re going to redevelop Founders’ Shores into a mixed use, walkable, pedestrian-oriented neighborhood with a good mix of building heights and densities – all while attempting to preserve some of our older, stately homes in the neighborhood.
We are going to focus on the wall-to-wall buildings from the Plazas and Promenades DLC and mix in Green Cities DLC buildings as well. We’ll also add in some of the newer high-capacity city service buildings and spend a bit of time activating the river front near the neighborhood. LOTS of building and growing today – enjoy!

The hospital took away a direct road connection from founders park through Olive hills and beyond
How about cul-de-sac'ing the side roads where there was issues with bus routing preference? Maybe that could eliminate the need for having stops on every block?
I would rotate the graduation area (around minute 5) by 90° and face it against a park and not the pedestrian road and the buildings across the street. Park name could be "Graduation Park" or after some alumni.
Just my 5c 🙂
Myrtle is back. I think she is haunting Verde Beach.
Demolishing buildings under construction… Well, Paris saw that in the 70s believe it or not. When the sector of Les Halles (old food market) was demolished to build the shopping center we now know, and the big underground RER station, the hole remained there for years before a decision was made. President Giscard d'Estaing and Paris Mayor Jacques Chirac were disaggreeing and wanted to push their own project to counter the other. Giscard began to build hotels on the border of the garden until Chirac overruled that decision and made his project (the one with the buildings demolished just about ten years ago) pass through instead. He made the Giscard hotels being demolished while they were still under construction !
Fun times, fun times indeed…
You could invoke a lore pretext to not densify an area that otherwise would be densified due to the presence of densier neighbourhoods. In Paris,, there are several places near the edges where there are still small houses and no taller buildings. Those places are such because of old quarries making the ground unfit for heavy buildings construction. Look South of the 13th and 14th disctricts and East of the 19th/20th districts.
Oh, Paris also has bookstores in front of each other in what we call the Latin district (universities), rue des Ecoles, several bookstores are mostly owned by the same people or working together forming a network for foreign students, most of the time.
I guess the neighbourhoods along the river wouldn't have liked you to build new buildings obscuring their view on the river just saying…
if you do change the name of madison pedestrian area i would go with leakey official mall because when jane went to africa she worked as an assistant to louis leakey for a time
I've seen those exact mid-rise buildings complete with abstract murals in Cambridge, MA. The Goodall Institute needs to have something named after Gary Larson.
@30:22 – you can call that District the Crescent , or Croissant even 🙂
I like the rework of the old district. It feels nice to be able to give old parts of the city some new life. The Hamilton Heights district name feels a little out of place for me. Given it's riverside and not elevated, maybe changing it to Hamilton Riverwalk Community or something to denote it's pedestrian focus.
i belive pedestrians can bike on the pedestrain roads already and I think your service points are rammed full not enuff trucks maybe add more service thingamagiggys for trash lol.
Great build this week. Small piece of feedback would be that the neighborhood would benefit from a few tree lines streets instead of all grass lined. Plenty of new road options to try.
For the flooding problem just dredge the water along the pier.
Isn't this also called Gentrification?
What's the song that starts at 38:13 and plays through the landscaping montage? CPP listed it as 'Landscaping – by City Planner Plays', did he actually make that song? Shazam doesn't believe it exists. It's chill, I want to listen to it more…
Goodall Pedestrian District
Add a chirp X launch site somwhere near the water. this is very realisitic in cities where space x has a presence.
Yoooo, changing the fly over on kellerhouse finally makes that path a less ideal spot to get mugged, only been like a year since my original comment on the danger of that path 😂😂😂
This is problem with garbage collection is very annoying and it happened before this DLC too. Even with excess garbage procession, I had a lot of problems with trash accumulation in my builds. Always had to put more money to cope with.
For those of you interested in why this happens "8:28" . The game has 2 categories of roads, normal and pathways. Pathways do not have zoning while standard roads do. In campus and all dlc that have the purple zoning it allows ploppable objects to have their service points moved to the primary building of that zone. For campus the administrative building would be the primary. With the new pedestrian roads and pedestrian zones this feature is toggled to correct the problem for buildings that don't have a primary "27:51" Deliver everything. In short, with every campus, a building on a pedestrian road will have it's services still cared for by the administrative building. Which you can see does have a normal road connection "2:03". So watch for garbage to come through and see the other buildings tied to the campus become happy.
The only thing I dislike about the tall grass is that the scale is really off. They're almost the height of a tree
