This Cult Classic Will Cast a Spell On You…

We lost Julian Sands earlier this summer…so how better to celebrate the life of one of my favorite actors than by covering his cult classic film Warlock?

  2. Mike-Hell . . . in light of your wrasslin' references, don't you think Julian Sands resembles a young Triple-H, here – specifically, the latter's aristocratic persona from the mid-'90s?

Starting at 4:52, we see the result of the Warlock's fascination with modern technology: he got electrocuted when he tried to use that lampshade as a hat . . . while the lamp itself was still plugged into a socket. Curiosity can be fatal. 😉

  4. I first saw Julian Sands as a kid in 1990 with Arachnophobia, and later this movie.
I hope you would try out the Stephen King movie/ mini series Rose Red. To me that is the ultimate haunted house story ever ( well before Haunting of Hill House came up) Julian Sands plays a very kind and warm character here and that's why I love his work.
Rest In Peace Julian Sands and thanks for giving him some well deserved attention

  5. God Rest the amazing Julian Sands… This was the first movie I ever saw him in and I F**KING Loved it! Sands was amazing as the Warlock… It made him one of my favourite actors of all time.

Stupid Random facts – The term Warlock comes from Latin, and was used by the Church to describe anyone who did not follow "The One True Faith" during the days of the inquisition … Be they male or female before it was made a primarily male term in favour of "Witch" for females…

The Latin roughly translates to "Teller of Lies" – And anyone who followed older esoteric beliefs back then not only would not have understood that language but would NEVER have called themselves a Warlock. IN actual fact the term "Witch" was gender neutral and is found used in many ancient cultures, where Warlock is not!

So onto stupid random fact Number 2… Yes, that means all these shows such as Charmed showing "Girl Power" via Witchcraft… Yeah, NAH! Men and Women are "Witches" – But that doesn't sell as well, so of course they altered it to fit the pop culture zeitgeist.

Stupid Fact Number 3: While Witches DID NOT Ingest the fat of unbaptised children to fly, The old rumour of "Licking Toads" has an air of truth… There are several species of Toad, some which also used to be found in the UK but are now extinct that when scared excrete a "Sweat" that causes effects similar to Magic Mushrooms and "Spiritual People" would Lick their backs to get high and they felt a if they were flying… When in fact they had probably fell down a hill and landed in a cow pat!

Stupid Fact Number 4 as some idiot is bound to try it – DONT GO LICKING TOADS YOU MORONS!
