I used to use VidIQ’s checklist extension back when I first started, I watched their videos, I used their website daily. However, as I’ve learned my way around youtube I’ve come to feel that the tool may actually be HURTING the very users it claims to help. So through many, many small-scale tests and comparisons, from its attempts to “fix” titles to scraping data from Youtube as a whole so poorly that it may be causing its users to plagiarize without them knowing, let’s have a look at why you SHOULDN’T use VidIQ.

i can tell you one thing about this tool, this tool seems to prioritize getting views via clickbait titles… once i started using it, it gave clickbait titles as suggestions for titles to use for my video. insane.
i felt that shock upon Spice reading "stock-like quality" and it became even funnier when she said "do you by chance get your stock art from FURAFFINITY?!"

i only use vidiq to download thumbnails (theres definitely a better way to download thumbnails but im too lazy to find a different one)

Had VidIQ for the longest time and it just kinda sat in the background for me. Never used it for much of anything, I never paid attention to the scores and suggestions much and did just fine without them gaining a decent following. Best advice I can give to small creators who may be inclined to use a tool like VidIQ is don't. The reason it gives the suggestions it does is because the dataset sees everyone else doing it. Best way to stand out is to carve out a niche and offer something you know people want but nobodies making.
As someone pursuing content creation, i have never heard of VidIQ and i have never used artificial intelligence in my videos, as my videos are literally raw gameplay footage as i do not have editing software, nor the needed skills to engage in editing.
I like this voice, it's pretty unique and suave

The reason these tools don't work is they're trained on what worked in the past. There's a fantastic eyepatch wolf video about courses created by influencers that come down to the same thing.
I dont like ai but Vidiq allows me to more easily audit my own channel, as well as find outlier videos. i am now aware of velio however which does the outlier research much better but is still subscription based. however vid iq does allow me to see analytics that i dont see on my studio such as countrys viewing my channel as well as the best times to publish. I admit the stats are a very small part of success and mmy biggest successes have nothing to do with vidiq
