  1. A toughy! … You're exactly right.. Looks more like a wire strike to me rather than a hawk. The missing feathers are too perfectly missing and smooth on the chest. By the time a BOP starts pulling feathers he's pretty well stomped all over a bird, so there should be a lot of puncture wounds, which is doesn't really look like it has. Looks like it clipped a high wire or tree, shredded the feathers off the chest and caught it's leg which busted it up pretty bad.. I wrote this comment before I heard your final findings, so we were both on the same page.. He must have hit a pear tree in the orchard..
