  1. I live in Sitka, commercially fish for a living and hunt all around SE. I think the two hardest things for most visiting folks to grasp is how quickly hypothermia can degrade your decision making abilities, and just how "on your own" you really are here. Randy is right, you need to be prepared.

  2. Did my first Alaska hunt this year in sept for moose, 14 nights. Crazy vegetation, wet, and lots of bugs. A great adventure but agree 100%, it is no joke. My hunting partner said only time he's going back is on a cruise with his wife!

  3. We used the same pilot on our SE Alaska bear hunt! I recognize the plane and tail number from the thumbnail. Randy is 100% correct. We had a couple extra days waiting for our commercial flight out of Petersburg.

  5. There are places like that in the lower 48 too. One of my favorite hunting spots is 9 miles from any roads, then another 3-4 hour drive to civilization with no cell service. You HAVE to pack right and act right!

  6. I did a remote Alaska moose hunt in ‘19. 3 week float, float planes etc. the whole time I was getting buzzed by bush planes, and especially after I got a big moose rack on my boat. It’s like ohv’s, but in the sky during hunting season

  7. Been a backcountry guide in Alaska for 6 years now. We get helicoptered in and spend 6 days floating the rivers extremely remote areas. I carry a ZOLEO satellite text device. I also carry a sat phone along with a very robust first aid kit that I have built to support what i may need
