Things I wish Royal Caribbean would copy from other cruise lines

I love Royal Caribbean, but I kind of wish they would “borrow” these ideas from other cruise lines.

  1. Hey Matt
I dont know what cruise line does it, but Royal should have a chair share team, that places a Chairing is Caring card on reserved chairs, stating that the chair was found empty at X time, and at X time plus 30minutes your stuff will be moved to the towel hut.
    Bye bye chair hogs…

  2. I think Royal would be smart to partner with Netflix or some kind of streaming service for better cable/TV. I love being an introvert on the boat!

Yes, I’m on a cruise but I don’t want to watch movies in the pool with loud music and people. When I was on Disney, their movie catalog was amazing on the ship. It was like having Disney+.

  3. I have NO IDEA how much money RCL employees earn. How can I justify subsidizing THEIR employee's income? RCL is wonderful but Matt is correct. Build in all costs into the cruise fare. I don't mind paying extra for a drink package. That is a horse of a different color.

  4. Is it just me, or does Navigator’s El Loco Fresh just have SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE food than you have experienced on other ships?! We tried the food there twice on our recent Jan ‘23 cruise, and the food, in general, was Flat-out Terrible! Stale, cold tortillas and dry flavorless meat

  5. Yes they need more free food options. We are already paying a lot to get on the boat. The gratuity should already be included. They definitely need to offer over night stays. They leave the ports too early in some places. If Carnival would be a little bigger and more options I would always stay with them but Royal caribbean has more too offer as far as entertainment

  6. In Santorini they leave way too early, where as NCL leaves much later. Having a greek dinner, smashing plates, and watching the sunset over the Greek islands is an amazing experience, something RC cruisers miss out on.

  7. Expanding on the "stay late on the private island" theme… for the cruise lines that stay docked to the island overnight, can you imagine if a cruise line had a luxury glamping overnight excursion? Similar to the cabana rentals that they all offer, a glamping rental would be really popular IMO. Evening bonfire, drinks by the fire, and sleeping right on the beach.

  8. I wish RCL would use the local currency onboard ships that are home ported outside the USA. Aways using US$ leaves non-american cruisers at the mercy of international exchange rates even when they sail from and back to a local port. Surely a company the size of RCL is better placed to take that risk than someone who has saved pennies for years to take a cruise? Carnival does it.

  9. Yes Yes Yes to all. I will add like Virgin later hours for pool/hot tub at least in the solarium. There are many nights, where, after dinner, I feel like relaxing in hot tub but it’s closed. Better thermal spa options as well.

  10. We just booked Celebrity, and it's not quite true that it's "all inclusive" as you stated. There's a "cruise only" normal price, and an "all included price" which is basically a drink package pricing of $89 pp/pd.

  11. We are totally loyal to Royal. BUT, totally agree with gratuities included in cruise fare so people cannot remove them. STAYING LATE ON Cococay is another super idea I wish Royal would adopt. It would be so fun to have a bonfire dance party (and we’re not kids, being in our 60s). Icon is very family oriented, but I’d love a larger neighborhood for adults only that’s included, perhaps expanded solarium, but with outdoor space and Caribbean, lively activities occurring. Just because we want to be away from all the kids, doesn’t mean we just want to sit in a quiet space 100% of the time!

  12. These are wonderful ideas! The best I think would be more free dining options and longer stays with activities on the private islands. I know our family would love the bonfire, dance shows and party after sunset
