On today’s episode, the History Guy tells two stories of Alexander the Great. First he tells the story of possibly the most challenging siege of Alexander’s military career: the siege of the island city of Tyre. Then he tells the story of Alexander’s greatest defeat, when his own men mutinied on the banks of an Asian river.

  2. We might call Phillip of Macedon, Phillip the Great, except his son was Alexander. Phillip was quite an interesting guy. He left Alexander a united Greece (under Macedonian dominance), a military system of combined arms and tactics superior to anyone else. and a superb army. He also left Alexander a leadership style of leading from the front and a desire to conquer Persia. Can't remember the source or the exact quote but it goes something like, "He lost and eye, a hand, and a leg that the remaining parts of his body might live in greater glory". You don't get that by sitting in a chariot in the back.

  3. In current time news outlets are known for pushing an agenda rather than reporting the news in a fair and balanced way. Do you run across this when researching for your shows? If so, howdo you decipher what really happened?
