THEY'RE SO JEALOUS: Horizon Forbidden West SO JEALOUS of Elden Ring's Success!!

Elden Ring is taken the gaming world by storm recently and that seems to have really annoyed some game developers. Particularly those who are connect to the Horizon franchise as they seem to be very salty about it indeed.

  1. When they challenge you to fight a hard battle, the pain can be harsher, but the rewards feels sweeter.

When they tell you, how to walk, whom to talk, and where to go…is it really "Open World"?

Funny enough, last year I finally played "Divinity 2: The Original Sin", and for being a scripted game, it feels so open world, that I loved it.

This is the same. A game doesn't need to have a gigantic map to be "open world", it needs to give you the choices to you on what to do, and then you taking the consequences or rewards over them. It's as simple as that…

  2. When I saw trailers and gameplay of Horizon, it reminds me of Call of Pigeon. Flashy graphics and BS sense of drama but you end up with a bland game. These games are overhyped, I saw Elden Ring gameplay on streams and thought this could be fun and gave it a try. I’m really happy I did, it’s such a good game.

Not even mentioning the poor UI from Ubisoft games, overloaded, recycled for every game…

  3. DS/BB/ER UX > HFW UX. Horizon is absolutely generic, sterile Ubisoft's open world game. The only rediming qualityes of this games, if you can endure retarded repeating "kill 10 rats" quests and "my feelings" exposition dialogs, are good art direction and robots boss enemies.
ER gives me Morrowind/Zelda BotW feeling: I see something on the horizon, I explore, I usualy find something cool or unexpected.

  4. Couple random people say something stupid and then you and a bunch of people commenting want to act like it’s the whole company and it’s fan base. Both games can be good and are good imo. I’ve been playing them both regularly. Some of the souls people in here make me wonder which is the most toxic community. It’s between them and Destiny players. They can’t ever admit another game or genre is good and if you criticize their game omg.

  5. I liked the first horizon. A lot. But look, Miyazaki and From Software are masters at what they do and they've just taken that to another level. Even if you can't get into those games, as a video game fan you've got to appreciate what From have done and continue to do.

Quest design? Miyazaki scoffs at your quest design.

  6. I greatly enjoyed the first Horizon game, but the sequel's ending was spoiled for me (I wasn't even looking to be spoiled). I'm kinda glad that I didn't buy it. I'd buy Elden Ring, but I have a ps4 pro and I'm not sure how it will run on it.

  7. tbh horizon forbidden west is an okay sequal – 7/10 – the first game was much better story wise tho :3 At least there are face paints and headresses in teh game to cover Aloy's FAT CHEEKS
Sekiro was the only truly challenging one because u couldn't grind stats and use different armor and weapons… . Bloodbourne was second hardest because you couldn't block – dark souls 2 is 3rd because the iFrames in that game suck ass and the animations aren't fluid. Dark Souls 1 is 4th, Dark souls 3 is 5th … Elden Ring seems easier than most because it is open world and you can go do other things in the world if you get stuck on a boss it's not linear :3

  8. At some point stuttering returns. Don't know why or what may cause this. The PC version still suffers too much of technical issues. Just look at the Steam Discussion section.

  9. If they dont like it dont play it. But these wokesters cant help but to force someone into doing what they think is correct at the moment. Because they have no true beliefs or passions.

  10. These game developers are so comfy with their textbook standards of what a "quest" should be or how an "open world" should work, that when a game like Elden Ring ignores those standards and does its own thing, they point at what is the reason why it is special and claim that it's a flaw.

  11. Im playing forbidden west now then on to Elden ring. Horizon is a great game. Didnt think I would be in to it. Never played the first one but fighting the machines is a lot of fun. I like how you need to shoot parts off to collect them instead of just blowing the machine up.

  12. Oh well, they already delayed it once as it was originally supposed to be released Holiday 2021. And if Holiday 2021 AAA releases didn’t suck absolute ass, it would have been in the same predicament as now. They just chose to release the game at an even worse time, right around the same time Elden Ring is getting almost 1mil players on Steam alone. Probably not the best decision for Sony. Now they know how EA felt after they released Titanfall 2 in between CoD and Battlefield 1. $hit happens

  13. It’s not a huge DLC if the game added many new gameplay features and looks visually different.

To say Horizon 2 LOOKS identical, yet act like Elden Ring looks drastically different to any dark souls game seems a bit humorous imo.

It’s a NEW game. Will anyone make that same argument if another dark souls game comes out? Probably not, yet people still play it regardless.

People asked for gliding and when we got it they screeched Horizon is copying Zelda as if Zelda created gliding in games 😂🤦‍♂️

I’ve heard people bring up copying the climbing from breath of the wild, as if assassins creed and other games didn’t do climbing before Zelda did it 😑

To be fair, both sides of the fans of these games are agitating each other. So let’s not act like it’s singular 💁‍♂️

    Things I like:

Character interactions are more natural unlike the first. Thank goodness 👍

The map is way bigger than I thought and I’m still not even half way on the map and really enjoy exploring the world.

The weapon combat is far better with 3 ways to use a weapon (thanks to the new stamina system).

The Cauldrons I’ve encountered are better and don’t look as identical like the first game did.

Side quests are actually rewarding unlike the first game.

Graphics are far better this time around (for those who like pretty graphics). Especially on PS5.

    My criticisms so far

It starts out way too slow.

The narrative could’ve been simplified a bit more.

The health system of picking up berries constantly for health is annoying like the first game (They should have a robot companion that does that for you or something).

Minor bugs I hope gets patched soon.

Possibly more criticisms given I haven’t finished it yet.

Aloy isn’t masculine throughout the whole game so far. She actually shows compassion and tenderness if you played long enough to see (which I assume you didn’t).

I’m enjoying Horizon Forbidden West. It’s actually what the original game should’ve been in many aspects. Again, I look at it as what the first game should’ve been. Play what you wanna play. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about what you enjoy people 💁‍♂️

  15. I don't get it. Why are people behind a successful game mad at the other successful game. I don't know about Horizon, since I didn't play the original one, it was actually the character heads looking extremely weird that turned me off from even trying it, a little bit too uncanny valley for me… I guess it's a good game.

  16. On one hand I can see why Aloy would be more masculine. She didnt have any female role models. She was raised as an outcase by Rost, another outcast and trained to climb cliff faces and hunt giant ass machines. Were there really any feminine role models in the original game?

If they are making her more masculine than that in Forbidden West though they might as well just make her a guy. I paid more attention to the overall story though. I liked the gamepla, liked the overall story, New Game + didnt really introduce anything from what I could tell like God of War did.

But… im playing GW2 End of Dragons right now. So ill wait for the price to come down, especially after people are this butthurt about another company doing better than them.

  17. Graphics and quest design are bad in Elden ring? please go find another job, because these people obviously don't understand how to create a good game, the quests themselves are very cryptic for a good reason, it creates a sense of mystery and adventure, but its oke, you guys just stick to your "gather X amount of fruit from the area that the arrow on your HUD points to". Elden ring is not perfect obviously, but its the first game in a VERY LONG TIME that I actually don't regret spending my money on. 40 bucks for a game you can easily sink 100+ hours into the single player alone, not to mention the pvp, is a good fucking deal to me. Keep your shitty games that you can complete in 2 hours.

  19. When I play games like Elden Ring. I just can't help myself but make up just random storylines for myself to get more immersed into the open world aspect of it and at times I would play Guts's them from Berserk and at time it just hits perfectly even in some fight sequences that I come across.

It also reminds me of the time back then when Demon Soul came out and then Dark Souls and onward and I wasn't the most patient person back then(I came close many times breaking my controller or my whole system. But thankfully I never did) and after awhile I just relaxed and then I just played after I dead I got better and better until I was the best(but that didn't mean I was save from dying many times).

  20. The competition is salty, AAA western game devs are upset that gamers in mass just want something challenging and that they games they made for themselves aren't appealing to anyone else. Even though I am having huge performance issues with this game (such as the slowdown and speedup in most of the game) I am still loving it; they can shit on quest design all they want but the unmarked NPCs that have their own thing going on are way more compelling to help than some asshat following me about, bumlicking and asking me for favours.

  21. Elden ring is the first game to beat witcher 3 for me, it's literally that good. Devs crying for someones success this much is sad and pathetic.

Gonna buy new horizon for 10 bucks in steam sale or just sail the high seas and get it for free.

  23. 1) Garbage Multiplayer, no clue why it can't be a simple friendslist invite, just like Outriders. So annoying.

    2) Boring Armor progression, MOST armors have NO perks, NO set bonus and you cant even upgrade Armor. Even legendary sets provide NO set bonus or upgrades like mod slots. Games like: Nioh or God of War PC have fun Armor progression with perks and set bonus effects.

    3) Garbage tooltips, I have no clue why these tooltips have to be so bad? Like for example: what the hell is Death magic or godslayer magic? The magic tooltips do NOT tell you in their quick info what school they are? WHY!

    4) No HIDE helm! spend like 30min on my guys head and I cant hide my helm!

  24. Sad the reaction but it should be expected. The reality is SyFy based media will never be as popular as fantasy media. A good example is the Expanse. Amazon bought it thinking it would be up there with the game of thrones. Never happen and Amazon never adapting the last 3 books. Look at the most popular SyFy stories, Dune and Star Wars. Both stories are really medieval stories with star ships thrown in. Good SyFy tends to reflect on the human condition while fantasy stories are based on the classic hero's journey which has thousands of years of history behind it. Basically the hero's journey is more ancient and universal in theme. Personally I don't like fantasy themes and I'm one of those that like "OLD" star trek over classic star wars but I know I'm in the minority. A good example of the how hungry people are for fantasy media just look at the Day of Dragons Game fiasco.

  25. 1. I don't get it. Was Horizon Forbidden West a failure? Elden Ring is probably more successful, but if HFW was still a success why are you jealous?

    2. They may have made Aloy look more manly, but they also gave her nice breasts and were more than willing to show them off. I'm getting mixed signals.
